We came by for brunch on a Tuesday, it was not too busy. I ordered an Egg Sandwich and small Cafe Ybor(made with evaporate milk) and a Mojo Pork sandwich with cafe con leche and a Devil crab as they did not have stuffed potato. The egg sandwich on cuban bread was very good. The mojo pork was also very good. We really enjoyed the Devil Crab the make in house. We found it very interesting the menu had no prices, only the paper menu did. The lady serving the food at the counter was very friendly. You pay for your meal and they make your coffee and bring your food to your table. The tables were clean and nothing fancy but good food. We will be back to try the stuffed potato. read more

Came here for lunch with a friend. As someone who does not eat meat, I knew that I would not have many options to choose from. Most of the dishes contain meat. Even the yellow rice, the green beans and red beans were cooked with meat. It's a very casual place. It's a self service. So you pick what you order and also clean after you. I ordered white rice, black beans, plantain and yucca. Food was ok. Not very flavorful. I found hair in the food and when I went back to show them, they refused to replace my food, telling me it's my hair... Also was not offered chopped onion for the beans. I had to go back and ask. Breakfast or lunch 7 days a week, dinner weekdays only, very good authentic Cuban food. No frills order at the counter service and they bring you your food. Fresh, hot, and super delicious. There are tables both inside and outside. Not super crowded during lunch today, good steady business and the ladies behind the counter are very nice. Like a happy family serving their own recipes. I ordered the deviled crab and it was the size of a junior football. Loaded with crab and plenty of flavor. Authentic Cuban beverages from the cold case and a soda fountain with the usual Coke products. I don't live in Tampa anymore but if I did, I would get lunch from here all the time. read more

Totally fine Cuban food in South Tampa. I used to go to Pipo's for take out. It was on my way home, it was fast, and it was easy. Gio's is now in the same location with a very similar menu and set-up. I wouldn't say that their Cuban food is the best. It is fine. And the prices are certainly higher than you'd pay if you were in West Tampa. But you're paying for location (even if the particular setting isn't impressive). I had a cafe con leche and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was good, nothing remarkable. Service was pleasant enough but not very speedy. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here or get take out, but if I were passing by and wanted a fast-ish meal, I might stop in. Great place to start the day. The café con leche is the delicious and the right amount of sugar. I ordered the egg white omelette with Swiss cheese and ham. Their coffee is not good. First of, their cortadito size is more like the size of a cafe con leche and even though the cup is not filled all the way to the top you definitely get a lot more volume than expected. I was hopeful though when I saw how dark (much darker than a cafe con leche) the coffee looked but unfortunately it tasted extremely watered down, likely because it's made from poor quality beans. read more

Stopped in sunday for to go food. Its cafeteria style so you order in the line where most of the foods are prepared already and in hot trays. It took about 20 mins to box up our order after I checked on it in the meantime. People dining in were getting plates of food exactly what we ordered as they ordered it...they dont seem to follow the first come first serve process. I think the guy was more concerned with helping those dining in and plated about 20 people before boxing up our food. I've eaten at several Spanish places like this ..I've never heard of the pork being served where a side dish would go as you can see by my photo. Not sure why he didnt plate my container as I ordered either. I ordered yellow rice and black beans which are not premixed in the window where I ordered, they decide to mix it all up while throwing it in the container. I will be stopping back in to see a manager about this poor serving of pork. read more

I stopped in with a friend because we were craving Cuban food and coffee and happened to drive by. I regret making her turn around to try this place. It looks like your standard hole-in-the-wall Cuban diners that usually have cheap, simple, but delicious food and coffee. This is not one of those places. Both our sandwiches and coffee tasted like they were from McDonalds. It didn't even taste like a Cuban. Just too much ham, a sad wilted pickle or two and too much McDonalds-like 'special sauce'. For the third time in the last few months they got my order wrong. I have going here for years and it feels like the service and food portions have gone downward during that time. My mojo pork sandwich, ordered each time with cheese and onions, was once again sans onions and the pork was not done in mojo sauce. The amount of pork is about half of what used to be on the sandwiches and did not even cover the bread. I figure, three strikes and all that .... so I will not be going back. It is a shame because they also used to have the best cuban breakfast sandwiches which also have, sadly, gone downhill. read more

Definitely not Cuban and not authentic, key Ingredients missing in the food. Displayed rice was dry and didn't look very fresh. None of the food on display looked great honestly. Steak sandwich was good but Missing las papitas. Probably a decent place for a non Hispanic. Should be called Gio's Carribean food not Cuban. Not one Cuban In site besides me. Don't like to bad mouth places but sometimes owners put a name outside to bring in a crowd, but is misleading when that's not what is actually offered. Staff was pretty pleasant so for that reason they get a 3 star review. read more
