This is the *same* deep dish as Chicago's (hometown). But two big negatives about this California branch is: (1) the wait time (twice of Chicago's ranging between 1.30 - 2 hours), and (2) the cold, windy drafts (once near glass roll-up garage doors and second in the center of restaurant - apparently it gets too hot near the bar, so they turn on the A/C inside - our cheesy slices were not gooey, but cold and hard by the end of the meal. read more

Would have loved to give this place 5 stars as the pizza is very good and we loved the one in Chicago....so food, 5 stars, but the service needs some serious work!! We were seated pretty quickly...sooner than the 40 min quoted, but then we waited for 15 min to order a drink. Someone kept saying has your server been by, nope. Ordered drinks finally from one guy who then was replaced by another guy bc first guy said he was on break. Got the wrong size beer, but at that point we were just thirsty. Ordered and had a kid and they said FYI her pizza will come out first (rest of us had deep dish) which was fine. We had salad, still no kid pizza. Well, 45 min later our pizza comes out and we are told her order had a problem. We were also told silverware was coming. Never did so grabbed off another table. Finally after a full hour, our daughter's pizza showed up. Several apologies etc...but just annoying as they kept saying hers would come out first. And as parents know, you want your kid fed quickly! I honestly expected them to comp her pizza, but they didn't. Final issue was we ordered another beer to eat with pizza which never showed. Finally told the guy forget it. We pay, and literally as we are standing up to leave the beer shows up. Really? So....I have waited tables and hate to always blame the staff bc I know that so many things go on, but this was epic. And too bad bc we really loved the food and thankfully were not in a hurry that day. Our final of 3 waiters was very nice, but at some point you are kind of done with the 5th apology. read more

They went out of their way to advertise heart-shaped pizzas for V Day just to get there and find out they don't do them. They were also out of half the beer menu. Growing up in Chicago, I set the bar high for Giordano's but this location is a sorry excuse and waste of a meal/time! Yikes, after a trying week in the office we decided we needed to get some CARBS for making it through a TOUGH week in the medical field. Giordano's came highly recommended for their deep dish stuffed pizza so we decided to give it a try. We ordered online and made the necessary adjustments to our BBQ Chicken requesting no bacon and customized a second pizza. We picked up our ordered and saw our ticket with the comments on the outside of the box with the accommodations noted on the outside of the box. So, we assumed all was well. Unfortunately, when arrived back to the office the BBQ Chicken pizza still had Bacon. I called to notify the restaurant. The first representative that answered was truly kind and was eager to help get this resolved so he transferred me to the manager. The manager gets on the line and to say the least wasn't very helpful. He made it very clear that online it states no accommodations. I noted that it allowed us to make the accommodations and the pizza was noted as though the accommodations were made. I asked for a refund only of that pizza as we a GRAND TOTAL of 119.24 for 2 pizza's ,1 salad, and 2 traditional orders of wings. He stated he couldn't refund that pizza but would remake it without the bacon but someone would need to pick it up or he could give a credit. Needless, to say he definitely lost my company business. If you are able to make the accommodations after the fact why not just make them in beginning when it was requested. OR better yet, a simple my bad or hey sorry for the misunderstanding would've been nice. I have a credit for 32.65 that'll be waiting on me at the restaurant as, "we met in middle" LOL. My wife and I were going to try this place before or after the Parade of Lights. Bummer. First try was an hour and a half wait. Second try, same day, we weren't even let in because they had stopped taking reservations and even order out! They did give us a $10 off our next visit. Lesson learned--don't go to a new restaurant on opening weekend. Especially during the holidays! We'll try again AFTER the hype has died down! We are super excited to see a well known and loved Chicago Pizza place open in Denver! We went Thursday night, parking is not convenient so if you have any health issues I'd suggest using the 16th street mall bus to drop you off instead of having to park and walk a couple of blocks. It was crowded trying to get in the front door, people were leaving, more people waiting right inside the door at the hostess stand, there just isn't any room. Our part of 2 got seated right away, but if you were a party if 4 or more there was a huge wait time. Both of us were absolutely shocked when the waiter greeted us and explained there was a 1 hour 15 minute wait time for deep dish pizza, 40 minute wait for thin crust so he suggested placing out pizza order first. So we ordered a medium meat to go, a medium thin crust to eat there, plus an order of mozzarella triangles and 2 Pepsi's. The mozzarella triangles were pretty much what you can get anywhere, nothing special. The thin crust pizza was a complete disappointment, to be honest it was like eating cardboard with toppings. We watched the couple next to us get served salads which you could tell they were disappointed. On our other side a couple of guys drove all the way from Colorado Springs to have beer and pizza, but they were out of Bud and Bud lite! How do you run out of beer? Their deep dish order they were told 1 1/2 hour time so they ordered it to go and decided on Italian beef sandwiches with garlic fries, when they asked to have them wet the server replied wet what! If you are from Chicago you know your Italian beef gets dipped in juice so it's a wet sandwich. All of us had to explain it to the server, he had to go ask and came back and said the restaurant did not do that to their sandwiches, The sandwiches came and all 4 of us looked at what was on the plate in disbelief because it was not thin sliced beef it was actually more like chunks of roast beef! They said it was ok but definitely not like the Chicago restaurant. We all agreed it was disappointing. So with the average people going in to order deep dish pizza, if the wait time is always over 1 hour, you end up with a full restaurant, stagnant atmosphere because people are waiting for food and servers can't turn the tables and make money. Oh and if you need to use the restroom, the ladies bathroom only has 2 stalls! The next day we tried the deep dish and it was pretty cheesy meaty pizza and definitely better than the thin crust but not anything fabulous. Pizzeria Uno has a Chicago deep dish that is better and much less expensive. If you want a true Italian beef then go to Chicago in Lakewood, they are a little hole in the wall located on Colfax across from Casa Bonita. All Chicago decor, Jays potato chips and it's sliced thin served wet (dipped) or juice on the side. Sorry Giordano's you are expensive and take to long, 2 hours from time we sat down is just to long! 2 medium pizzas, mozzarella appetizer and 2 Pepsi's with tip set us back $100. read more

Terrible service from beginning to end. Where do I start?? First of all I'm from the Chicago area and was looking forward to some really good Chicago style pizza. Just not the same almost no sauce. When I walked in, hostess sat me at a corner table. Waited and waited for server. Had to ask hostess if anyone was working my table. She went and got a/the waitress. I think her name was Zee. Of course she apologized for not seeing me (I know she walked past me at least two times). Ordered my food (salad, with minimal dressing on it, and pizza). Finished my soda pretty quick (90% ice) and never got refilled until I was just about done with my meal. A runner brought out two dishes (while I was eating) that I did not order. He seemed puzzled (gee wonder why?). When I finished and waitress finally made a reappearance, she brought my bill. Not to my surprise it was totally wrong (it had my items, plus those 2 dishes I did not order). She seemed totally shocked that it was wrong. She did not even look at it before giving it to me. Finally got the bill correct, put my credit card in there and she grabbed it. About a minute later she came back and asked if the bill was right?? I said "yes, why?" "Well there's no credit card in there." It was right in the credit card pocket. Holy crap. Whatever happened to service? I can't leave a good tip for crappy service and I didn't, but I did leave a tip. Will not be back and unfortunately this place tarnishes the real Chicago Giordano's name. read more

Alright so here's the deal. I ordered to go thin crust. Order was taken and placed without issue over the phone. I was told to be there in about 30 minutes or so. I was about 10 minutes later than that, and figured my pie would be in the warming oven behind the to go counter. No one was at the counter, and the hostess said it would be just a minute for the guy to come back to assist me. Ten or so minutes after that he came to the counter with what was clearly my overcooked pizza. $30 for a medium pie that wasn't even cut into squares? I know that's a small detail, but I like my Chicago squares, not New York slices. Got the pizza home and the thing was overcooked and burnt on the bottom. I hate leaving bad reviews, but seriously, for $30 (that's including the tip I left) I was hoping for a properly cooked Chicago Style thin crust. What I got resembled over cooked Papa Johns. At least PJ's comes with garlic dipping sauce. From a true Chicago transplant, just get Pizza in Chicago, and maybe go to Gino's East. read more

Our family went today to have pizza and some sandwiches. Staff was pleasant but in training. We requested all items ordered be served at the same time. Our sandwiches came, but not the pizza order (waited and waited....no pizza). Staff gave us different stories about our order. Main wait staff said that they would make it right. The pizza is great! House Cabernet isn't bad. However unfortunate, but true, the service is pretty horrible. We walked in at 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon to happily say hello to the host to be greeted by an ugly stare and no verbal response whatsoever from any of the 3 standing there. We proceeded to wait at the host stand while someone placed their order (there is a carry out station) & nobody even acknowledge us even though there were 3 people standing there the entire time. This aside, we get to our table & are told instantly that we need to order our pizza because it's a 60 minute wait already. So okay, my friends in the bathroom, I want to wait for her & we want drinks. Before we even have a chance to order anything, the waitress comes back, without greeting my friend and asks if we have decided on a pizza. Order a bottle of wine, she comes back with it, & doesn't know how to open it. Which is fine, mistake made, you clearly weren't trained on it. However, when we order a second bottle of wine and you have an even more difficult time opening it than the first one (which we had to show you how to open) so much so that a glass falls off the table and breaks, I question the quality of the restaurants training and service capabilities. Not only did the glass break and 3 different employees came to try & "help" we had to ask for another wine glass. I have been to the Chicago location and this is a disgrace. It seems to me they rushed into this location and didn't take the time to properly train their staff. Sad. read more

Last night (12/1/2019) I had a disgusting experience at Giordanos pizza in Denver serving potential clients. After an unsuccessful weekly attempt to call ( no one answered calls) to the restaurant and get at least some information we came to eat on Saturday evening. The greeter (or welcomer!-person who meets all the guests at the entrance) was nervous from the beginning. - Are you on the guest list? -Guest list? No. - No, you can't come in, No! Not tonight! I started asking simple questions: - What is guest list? - How I can get on guest list? - How can I get any information? (I can't go inside, no one answers the phone)...ets I received one answer to all the questions- "I don't know, we just opened up, we are very busy, I don't know..." I drove town waited 1 hour in traffic to get these answers. Finally when I asked the last question "Ok, but who knows?" - greeter began not only to speak loudly, he began to scream in hysterics and run from side to side. I didn't raise my voice at all, I was shocked. So, I went inside and asked to talk to the manager. Manager showed up and I started explaining employee bad conduct. Manager interrupted me and said: - He said that you touched him! - Touched him???...what are you talking about! At that moment the door opened and greeter ran inside into hysterics , almost falling down and screaming "She pissed me off!". Two guys raised him under the arms and took him out. I poin this out to the manager - This is the behavior I was talking about. What are you going to do? And now Attention! Manager answer: - All I can do is call to police and you explain to them why you touched him. Want to?! He repeated it several times. To say I was a shock didn't say anything. At this poin I decided to leave, it wasn't worth anymore trouble. After I regretted- I had to stay, let them call the police, let them figure it out and I wish I would have filmed this one on my phone How manager of Giordanos pizza in Denver resolves problem like that. I decided to write the review only because of manager. What happened with customer service?! Was is really so hard for manager to ask what happened, just apologize and answer my questions and this is it... the problem would be solved. Now I am not surprised why people who work in the restaurant behave this way if they have such a manager. I don't appreciate being called a liar and have a frantic boy make false accusations don't me. PS. I love Giordanos pizza, I had a pleasant experience in Chicago, the food is great. I was hope to replicate the same experience here - unfortunately that did not happened... And ... answer the phone, please! read more

The cook was not happy tonight!!! After waiting 45 minutes for two bowls of pasta, the sausage was literally burned so much it was hard as a rock and hidden under the tomato sauce. Not a good experience for us at the location on the 16th Street Mall. We were sat down quickly and informed it would be at least 45 min if we ordered the deep dish which we did and we were good with. Waitress was quick with our drinks and appetizers but then it went downhill from there. We finished our drinks and signaled the waitress several times for refills but nothing, than she looked directly at our drinks three or four times and still no refills. Finally got our first refill hour and half later and our pizza which ended up being cold as well and really not that good from all the hype around this place. Asked for more napkins also during our meal and nothing then our waitress proceeded to tell us she wasn't all there she had pulled a double that day, if that's a problem tell your mgr you should still be able to handle all your tabletops or have another server help her out. The wait was 30-45 minutes but you can preorder your deep dish so by the time we got to the table our pizza was ready. All of the staff was very friendly and made the experience even better. Where shall I begin? When I ordered English black tea I was served Earl Grey that smelled like wet dog. Our pizzas took well over a half hour to be served. The wait was not worth it, plain, bland, too much sauce. Our soups and salads should be labeled as desserts- they showed up 10 minutes after we were finished eating. I have been to Giordano's in Chicago and Las Vegas. Several times. So naturally I was excited to see that we had one here in Denver. I didn't do much going out during covid but now that things are starting to clear up, I decided to get a group of friends together to check out the restaurant. We were seated after our table was ready. After we were served out water, we were asked to move to a smaller table because there was a group that was bigger than ours. We obliged and moved to a smaller table. We had a 5 top. We sat at our new table and ordered some drinks and food. The server wasn't friendly through the process. It took about 15 mins for one drink to come out. At this time, the other party was seated at our old table. Also a 5 top. They received their food within about 30 mins of their arrival. When we asked our server why our hasn't been out in the hour that we have been waiting and other tables have received their food and drinks. He sat down at our table and decided to scold us about a deferred order vs a walk in. Problem is, we had been waiting over an hour for our order that we were told would take 45 mins. Also the server never came back to provide our other drinks. This was by far the worst dinning experience we've ever had. I will no longer be supporting the Denver location and will tell everyone about my experience if they are thinking about dinning here. One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. I've been to a Giordano's in Chicago and it was good, not the best pizza I ever had but better than this location. This location is extremely lacking. Honestly the pizza is overpriced for what you get but the biggest issue is the service. We ( 2 ) showed up and were told it'd be 1.5 hour wait. We weren't in a rush so we said sure and put our name on the list. We went ahead and ordered so when we sat down the pizza would be ready. Well I guess they called us too soon as there was another party of 2 with the same name. So we got seated after about an hour. Not sure how that affected the other folks. We still had to wait another 45 minutes for our pizza. When they brought the pizza out they brought it to the wrong table but luckily our server was behind the guy and corrected him. The table next to us wasn't so lucky. Their pizza was taken to the wrong table so they ended up having to wait another hour for their pizza. Our server was absent minded and we were out of drinks for the entire meal. The staff has no idea what they're doing. They need more training. It was $60 for our 2 small deep dish pizzas. I got a veggie and it's the biggest rip off. Mostly spinach and bell pepper and a couple broccoli. For $22 pizza I figured a veggie would have some olives and artichoke and some flavor. I'd recommend almost any other pizza shop in Denver over this place. read more

The staff were really nice, attentive, and helpful. We had the lunch special, which consisted of a delicious house salad and a not so delicious personal deep dish pizza. I think the personal size doesn't do this pizza justice and should probably be taken off the menu. It was basically all crust with very little topping. It was dry with none of the stringy cheese you see on the pictures. This size should either be improved upon or taken off the menu altogether. I saw several other customers leave most of the crust of these personal size pizzas on their plates since it was just too dry. Other than the pizza everything else was good, and it was remarkably reasonably priced. read more

So I get there Friday night with my family at 930 PM the wait to get in was about 20m. Then the waiter tells me theres an hour wait for the pizza. Ok I ordered some appetizers. 1hr and 20m later the manager comes to tell me that they gave my pizza to someone else and it would be another 25 to 45m you gotta be kidding me at that point it was 1130pm. She did offer not to charge me for the pizza but at that point we were done. I was really looking forward to try it out. Really disappointed. read more

Called at 12:30 this afternoon (Saturday, 12/15/18) to place an order to pick up at 6p, as I was going to be downtown anyway and thought this would be a great opportunity to try it out. I was told, when I called, that the restaurant is too new to take an order that far in advance, please call 90-120 minutes before...so I did. Twice I spent 10-15 minutes on hold to be told by a machine that they are experiencing a high volume of calls and to please try again later. I am disgusted and highly unlikely to give this, supposedly awesome, pizza place another chance. My review is based on 3 visits and prior to the third, I would have given 5 stars. Were it based only on last night's visit, I would give 3. Minimum wait time for a pie is 45 minutes, no problem as they are upfront about this. Also I recognize it is Denver and some Midwest favorites just dont cook the same at this altitude. First visits were at the bar where service is always best and food delivered timely. I got my "cheese pull" experience both times. Yesterday's visit was on a Sunday with three friends at 4:30 which we figured was early enough to beat the rush. By 5:30 The server was obviously too busy to attend to all her tables as we only were asked for one drink reorder during the hour+ wait for our pizza. We ordered a Caesar salad that was excellent and came out very timely. We definitely waited well over an hour for our pizza and it was served "warm" to be kind. There was no cheese pull because it seemed to have sat long enough to settle like an old dog settles on her favorite chair mid-nap. We snagged the server during our first piece to reheat the pizza and it came back slightly warmer. By the time our pizza came out I heard servers quoting wait times of 90 minutes once the order was placed. Based on my first two experiences I would say the food is worth the wait. Being served tepid pizza is not acceptable. Rule 1 in food service is hot food goes out hot, even if a dishwasher takes it to the table! All the servers were running like their hair was on fire and I was nearly trampled by one as I exited the bathroom. I suspect management doesn't see the need to hire more than one server per 10 tables since there aren't normal courses to serve. I also get that since one party will be seated a minimum of two hours, servers can't make enough money turning tables so they make it on volume. If you like Giordano's in Chicago, I'm told this is pretty close and I suspect any shortcomings in the pizza are due to cooking at altitude. Just don't go in too hungry, or take advantage of the option to order your pizza while you are still on the list to get seated. If you get your "cheese pull" with your pie, you will be glad you waited. read more
