Gingerbread Antiques was actually the first antique shop I've ever visited, and it was such a wonderful experience. Walking through the store immediately brought back so many memories of my grandparents' house and had me reflecting on my own childhood. It's truly hard to believe that some of the things I grew up with are now considered "antiques," but it was a fun trip down memory lane! The layout of the store is great--it has plenty of space and the displays are designed very thoughtfully. There were so many unique finds that if I had more room in my apartment, I definitely would have walked out with something. This is a clean, well organized store. The booths are neat and not overly stuffed like flea markets. It's an enjoyable experience.

Don't ever become a vendor at this place. The store manager will lie and kick you out to replace you with a friend. We were one of the vendors with high sales. I hope she can pay her bills with friends. read more

I really enjoyed this antique mall, located just off of the town square in historic downtown Waxahachie. Upon entering we were greeted by two friendly employees who welcomed us and told us to make ourselves at home and let them know if we needed anything or had questions. There was no hurry or rush even though it was 20 mins to closing time, which was nice. Their selection was fantastic; they had at least 10 different booths. A nice range of vintage items from furniture, clothing, entertainment, kitchenware, etc. I purchased a set of crystal candle holders, an Amy Winehouse record, a vintage women's watch, and a beautiful photo album book for under $50. These types of antique malls are only as good as the vendors selling their stuff. One booth had fake Jadeite at Jadeite premium prices (hint look at the stamp on the bottom of the piece). Another vendor told us that they would give us 20% off a piece we were interested in, but quickly changed her mind when she realized she got the original pricing wrong. One of the employees was also a vendor, and she followed us around telling us which are her booths and wanting us to buy from her because we showed interest in other pieces. I'm not an antiquer but I do like some antique malls. This happens to be one of them. Stuff isn't crammed in here helter skelter. It isn't an assault on the senses. The antiques are also true antiques, not just old stuff. They had an antique service bell I just loved. They always have stuff that causes my mom and I to remember different stuff and talk about things we might never have thought of if it weren't for this store. They have a small area displaying local artists and I grabbed a card for Tina Bohlman, who appears to do oils and watercolors of the Waxahachie square. I really like that. It's not pretentious at all. Sweet people, sitting around talking. Weird to say, but I noticed that they have a lot of antique salt and pepper shakers. read more

I loved this place. Antiquing in Tx is far better than in MO. The proprietress does, as mentioned below, keep on her people to maintain an uncluttered, upend look, and keeps the prices way way down. Someone in there rotates a truckload of well-priced Fiesta Ware, what a find! Plenty of hardwood, again, very well priced. There is a great selection of Texas history as well as ample victorian kvitch. This is one of those malls that you kind of float through comfortably. Wear comfy shoes. read more

Recently visited this shop and didn't stay long as I was not prepared to delete my life savings. The inflated prices suggest the vendors prefer the location and not the customer base. An example was a small Maxfield Parrish print which had such an unreasonably high price tag, it is unlikely it will find a new home.
