That's why I refused to go for months. But eventually I gave in and my partner convinced me to give it a try and do 1 work out to see if I like it. And I'm so happy I did. We just finished our first month of CrossFit works outs and I loved every single class. My very first work out immediately dispelled the misconceptions I had about CrossFit. CrossFit Rincon is filled with lots of different kind of people - all different backgrounds, ages, body types, and levels of fitness. Head coaches, Reese & Valentina, are great. They motivate, cheer you up and help you challenge yourself. They celebrate your wins and always there to help you with your goals. Through our the WOD coaches consistently monitor and correct your form to help you do better. They can also modify some exercises to your ability and shape. Classes are intense, but it's like an adrenaline rush. The experience is addictive!

I appreciate the extra space for warming up, stretches and body weight exercises. And there are enough machines, free weights, and accessories for a great workout. This is a small neighborhood gym. They have a machine with guide rails for squats if you like that kind of thing. All in all the best gym in the area but still not quite up to the standards I'm used to on the mainland (sauna, hex bar, squat rack, even hotter stronger shower, and cheaper). They really seem to want the best for guests - not interested in their own aggrandizement or enrichment. I went for a cleansing not a healing, but found that my fingernails were far stronger than they had ever been after my 2-week stay. Further, I have had chronic issues with congestion, post-nasal drip, and cough, and these seemed better at the end of the cleanse. A classmate also reported a great deal of relief from her chronic congestion and coughing. Unfortunately, I have reverted to old eating patterns, and these benefits have reversed - so I need a refresher! I'd hoped for some relief from my longstanding osteoarthritis, but was advised that a longer detox period might be needed to help with that. I had also expected to have increased energy, but we were told that during detox it was typical to be more fatigued than usual. We did have daily yoga and exercise, however, which I loved and almost everyone participated in. One longtime Ann Wigmore attendee was a woman in her late 80's who was quite a dynamo. She reported that she had slipped back into some poor eating habits, and had a health crisis that left her unable to walk. Her husband wanted to take her right to the hospital, but she insisted instead that she needed to go immediately back to Ann Wigmore. She arrived in a wheelchair, was wheeled to her classes, and began quickly improving. Within a few days, she was not only out of her wheelchair, but was up dancing! The meals at Ann Wigmore were packed with nutrition, and included seed yogurt and sauerkraut to help with digestion. I ate far less than I do normally, but always felt satisfied at the end of a meal, and never felt hungry after or between meals. I shed quite a bit of weight, as I think all my classmates did, but felt better for it. The room I was in was simple but comfortable - perfect for my needs. I loved getting back to swimming and walking along the beach, with a warm ocean beach right next to our classroom building. I've been remiss at not posting my review sooner, but I was reminded of it as I was working on how and when I can return to Ann Wigmore, as I plan to do shortly!

Came here on vacation and I literally led with "I am not the CrossFit type" when I arrived. My expectations were exceeded- the owner led the workout and really focused on technique during front squats and I didn't feel pressured to go heavier than I felt comfortable. The gym itself is huge and the equipment was in good shape There were 5 of us there for a workout and we had so much space so I'm sure a full class has no issues. It was $20 for a drop in and I did the $35 for the class and tank top which was great. My GPS took me to the wrong location so check on the website for the correct one.
