You never really feel confident they have your cheques or you are getting the right information for the month. The location is great, materials provided to the kids is great, the teachers are...fine. My kids learned stuff, but in the past year were not happy about going. We did end up pulling my kids out due to some incidents, but the licensing office at VCH was following up with them. They aren't abusive or anything, they just aren't great either. So they get 3 stars. 1 for the location, 2 for the stuff the kids learn, and 3 for the materials they use. The staff and the administration and communication with parents needs improvement We have since moved to a new preschool and realize just how unhappy the kids were here and how unprofessionally managed the place was.

We have experienced none of the issues outlined in the first review listed on yelp. I have returned to this site to write this review after being puzzled for months since reading the first review. The administration and teachers have been responsive to all of our questions and concerns. The facilities are excellent. Our children are happy and received a good Montessori education. I am happy to recommend Cambie Montessori to anyone.

Burnaby Lakeview Preschool has provided such amazing experiences for both our daughters, one pre-covid and one during covid. Their adventures were completely different and unique, but the learning, caring and friendships were just as momentous. My girls will forever remember their teachers and of course the dogs! I can't recommend Burnaby Lakeview Preschool enough and would advocate the preschool for any child.

It was a home away from home for them and myself. My children really enjoyed having the dogs around, as it helped them feel comfortable in their classroom. The teachers poured their hearts and souls into my children, and my children gained so much from that. Both my children have special needs, so it was important to find a place that was inclusive to that, and a place that allowed my children to be themselves. The preschool nurtured my children in many ways.

After being part of the school community, we were shocked by how our children's re-registration was handled. We were told that we could bring the registration package in after spring break, only to later be told that our children had been removed and that the classes were now full. The communication throughout the process was extremely frustrating and left us feeling that our family was not treated fairly or respectfully. What was especially disappointing was the lack of compassion and willingness to work with us to find a reasonable solution. We made several attempts to communicate with the school and seek clarification, but the experience became increasingly stressful. As parents, we expect a school to communicate clearly, treat families with respect, and put the children's best interests first. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously, because families deserve better communication, transparency, and consideration.

The school also offers a French Immersion program, in which I was enrolled, and I went there for all four years until I went to École Jules Quesnel in grade four, which is where most French Immersion students transferred to. It was a good little school, but the English kids and French Immersion kids never mingled, despite it being a small school, although that may have changed. When I was in grade three, the school got its first portable, and my class was the class placed in the portable. While celebrating my niece's birthday at Chaldecott Park yesterday, I popped over to visit the school, and there was a new wing of the school, made out of portables. The school has a HUGE playground, divided into three parts: the concrete school yard, with hopscotch and the alphabet painted on it; a gravel field where we used to play kickball and catch crickets; and the upper playground, a wooded area with the playground equipment. The playground equipment included a slide, an adventure fort, and some wooden posts you could walk on, all of which were gone when I went to the school yesterday. There was also a hill, going from the playground down to the gravel field, which was perfect for sledding when it snowed. Back in my day, there weren't wood shavings or that bouncy material at the bottom of playground equipment -- there was concrete. The adventure fort had a pole set in concrete that you could slide down, and I remember a kid in my class falling down the pole and breaking his arm. My 4.5 year old son…read morejust completed an awesome year there and we were excited to send my 2yr old daughter there in the fall but unfortunately a family issue has taken us away from Vancouver. They have an opening for part time enrollment (Mondays and Fridays) if anyone is interested (a rare and potentially very attractive arrangement for someone who wants to ease a young child into school). Matoula and her team are awesome, the program is intimate with about 8-10 kids, and the families we met were great. Thanks!
