Many weekends in my younger years were spent at Giligan's. In this area in Makati, they are among the cheapest drinking places. You can get buckets of beer and other mixed drinks for 2/3 the price as in other bars. They also have a bar chow list that is great for bigger groups. With only P4,000 to P5,000 budget, you can throw a good birthday drinking session for 10 to 15 people - that already covers the drinks and the food. Just get a lot of the Giligan's Grilled Platter and the Pica-Pica platter to get everyone full. Elsewhere in Makati, the same amount of food and drinks would probably cost you around P10,000 or more.
Now that I'm a little bit older (and I'd like to think so much the wiser), I still go to Giligan's a lot. But this time for their great lunch sets. They have P99 meals with unlimited rice. But when going there with a group, I highly recommend their Groupie meals. I'm particularly fond of the P645 set which comes with a hefty serving of chicken fingers, inihaw na baboy, kare-kareng gulay and a very big platter of rice with iced tea for 4. I love their chicken fingers which is really juicy and goes really well with their honey mustard dip. The kare-kareng gulay is really good; the peanut sauce is thick and is on the sweet side. read more
