We were completely devastated when the VERY large tree in our front yard toppled over during a windstorm. Thankfully, the damage to our home was minimal, but we were still left with a giant tree sized mess to contend with. A quick Yelp search brought me to Gilbert's Tree Service. We called them around 5pm and Pedro was kind enough to drop by a few short hours later to survey the area. The estimate he gave us was more than fair and he even offered to complete the job the following day! Lucky us! Long story short, Pedro and his crew came by the next day and did a very thorough job, not just uprooting the tree, but ensuring that the debris was ready for the city to haul off on heavy trash day. Pedro and his team did an amazing job trimming 3 huge trees ( Live Oak, Chinese Tallow, and Sycamore) that are each on 3 separate neighbors properties, one on each side and one in the back, that unfortunately shed tons of leaves and nuts into our pool and all over our roof. Pedro and his team were very careful not to damage any of our plants and trees that were underneath the ones being trimmed. I honesty could not believe that they could get up so high without trampling anything at all. They were very professional and courteous. They cleaned up everything, even the leaves on my roof that were already there from those trees. Pedro was also very accommodating and personable. I was overrall very pleased with the speed, efficiency, quality of Petro and his team, at a very reasonable price that is! I had a huge tree limb that fell during the 4/18 rain. Petro and his crew came and fed it into their powerful machine and left me with a clean yard! Though we had a little bit of confusion on communication initially, and the machine had a little bit malfuction while on site, I still gave out 5 stars, because Petro and his crew came on time and finished the work on schedule. I then asked if this was Gilbert's Tree Service as I would assume a company would have the receptionist answer the phone by company name. We've used Gilbert's Tree Service for a couple of years now for tree trimming and clean up. Today, they finished an overhaul of landscaping our entire yard and I couldn't be more pleased! The crew worked so hard in terrible heat to get everything done, and Gilbert makes sure you are satisfied before they leave. The thing I also appreciate is everyone works well together and it's easy to see Gilbert takes care of the whole crew. I highly recommend Gilbert's Tree service after they successfully and safely removed an overgrown palm tree from my back yard. I work in the Industrial Construction business and was at first concerned with what level of planning and safety that would be implemented in removing my tree from a space constricted backyard that is surrounded by other town homes. Excellent service and communication. It took several days for Pedro to get back to me after the initial call but I understand they are very busy this time of year. My small back porch was overran by vegetation and I had a small tree damaging my fence. Needless to say Pedro and his crew showed up and finish their job under an hour. Unfortunately, i don't have any good experience with them. Even though, Pedro was a pleasant person and showed up for the estimate in an acceptable time frame it was impossible to schedule the job. I tried to get quote for cutting down a dead medium size tree on our front yard. The other two companies I found online didn't answer my call even after I left a message on their website and voicemail. However Pedro responded quickly and gave us a reasonable estimate. They came over two weeks later and cut the whole tree plus grind the root in about an hour. So efficient! read more

I called them up last week and it was difficult to tell you were reaching a place of business, as someone just said "hello." The owner was not available at that time, but I was assured that he would call back later in the afternoon. He did not call back that day, however he did call back the next day and made an appointment to come take a look at our trees that we wanted trimmed and other trimmings we wanted hauled away as well. He looked and told me he would get back with me later about an estimate. Never heard back from him. I went up on the roof and cut the limbs myself yesterday. Saved me money I guess. read more

A large tree fell on our roof due to wind. My phone call was answered quickly and Pedro was on site at our home within a couple hours. We so appreciate the promptness of the response and the honest evaluation of a very dangerous situation. It was determined that for the safety of the crew and our home a crane was needed to remove the tree. I had a wonderful experience with Gilbert's Tree Service! I called them out to trim two palm trees and they ended up finding rot on one of them and cut it down for me. If they hadn't found the rot, the tree would have blown over into my living room in the next storm. They were very professional and informative and were in and out in just a few hours. I called 3 companies to install root barriers and french drainage in Dec 2014. Of all 3, Pedro gave the best estimate and very professional in his work. After 1.5 month later, the soils settled and the drainage popped above the ground. Pedro came back with his crew and lay extra dirt for free to level the lawn. I had a large dead pine tree in my yard with a broken branch and ended up contacting 7 companies in one day to hurry up and get quotes so I could have it removed ASAP. Out of all the companies in Houston I only contacted the ones with the best reviews and Gilberts Tree Service was #1 on the list. I was really impressed by the reviews and when I called to have someone come out Pedro showed up the same day which I thought was awesome. He initially asked me how much I had been quoted and I said he was the first to come out and he quoted me at $2200. OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! I was shocked but thanked him for coming out and went inside with my tail between my legs to await the remaining quotes which I assumed would be even higher. My remaining quotes started rolling in within the next 2 days of meeting companies and to my amazement not one of them was over HALF of what Pedro quoted me. I was getting quotes anywhere from $680-$966 from SIX other companies. I finally asked another company how Pedro could of come up with that number and he politely told me that he wasn't surprised someone would try to take advantage of me given that I owned a nice home and I'm a pretty young girl. We asked for tree barrier quote from 2 companies, the second one being Gilbert's tree service. We decided to go with Gilbert's tree because their quote is the reasonable one. The first company was a joke, they qouted us 5K over Gilbert's and tried to explain to us why it is expensive etc. like we were dummy. We knew how much approximately the materials and what is the reasonable price range. Pedro, from Gilbert's tree, came and told us how much it would cost us and what material he used etc. We asked if he could install french drainage for us as well. He told us that he had extra large pipes (which is better for drainage) in his inventory and could give us better pricing. We decided to have both (root barrier and french drainage) done by his company. A few weeks later, we noted that the pipe in the back of our house surfaced a little bit. We took pictures and sent it to Pedro. He was quick in calling us back and told us they would fix it. His crew came and fixed it in no time. PLUS (this one we did not expect) they put more soil to smooth out the surface of the yard where they did some digging for the drainage pipes.
