It was the only hydrant in the whole neighborhood that worked after the earthquake. It was used to provide water for firefighting. It's credited with saving the whole neighborhood.

It's a fire hydrant that they repaint each year to remember how when all other fire hydrants/water lines weren't working it saved the mission district from burning down. An interesting piece of history but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. But definitely check it out if you are near Dolores park or in the mission if you have time!

Last chance to watch the A's is sneaking up on us. Tonights drone and fireworks show was just…read moreincredible. The drone show today 9/22/24 was incredible. Lasted for many many minutes and the 3D appearance of it was in great detail when seeing it in person. Toward the end some of the drones even let off some fireworks which I never saw before. There was a video at the end - I suppose so the people of Oakland had some closure. The ticket prices to these last games jumped up in cost - and it was all of a sudden. One moment everybody was protesting their leaving to Vegas and then last minute I think everybody jumped at the opportunity to see them one last time. Minus one star because the A's are leaving. I think that stinks.
