I hired Fred Getty from Getty and Associates to handle some charges I received last year. Those included a DUI, refusal and parafanalia charge. I am a type 1 diabetic and have rarely had any issues regarding drinking. I had recently been through several antibiotics and was started on several different medications, so I began seeing several doctors to have myself tested for all possible conditions and drug interactions that could have occurred. I am currently still going through this process 9 months later, after two surgeries with two more to come. That evening I was also driving a vehicle that didn't belong to me that I had borrowed. Upon being pulled over, I refused a breath test because I was informed they were unreliable for diabetics. I was taken to the hospital to do a blood test which I was fine with. I also authorized a search of the vehicle I was driving where a bowl for smoking marijuana was found under the passenger seat. I contacted Mr. Getty who agreed to meet with me. The first red flag was his request for a picture, which I sent. The second red flag was a meeting arranged at his house 45 minutes from where I live instead of his office 5 minutes down the street. Most of our meetings were outside of his office and I became reluctant to meet with him because I felt that this process was totally unprofessional, especially after Mr. Getty telling me he would like to date me. After a few continuances to try and assess my medical situation I had decided that I wanted to settle this case and accept the DUI so I could start the process of getting through it. Not to mention the last time I went to court before my final court date, Mr. Getty was out of town bird hunting and sent one of his colleagues to meet me. My case was actually scheduled for the day before and I almost got incarcerated upon arrival! I met with Mr. Getty prior to my final preceding where he mentioned to me that he got into a screaming match with the Commonwealth attorney the night before. When the commonwealth attorney arrived and Mr. Getty greeted him, he ignored Mr. Getty and walked into the court room. We followed and sat two rows behind him, where Mr. Getty proceeded to slander him by saying loud enough for him to hear that he was that kid that got beat up in highschool and now takes it out through his job. I was horrified. I ended up having to plead guilty to a DUI which I was fine with and prepared for. The surprise came when I also plead guilty to POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA! I never had drugs on me or in my system, nor was the bowl that was found mine. It was an old bowl with residue as they stated. So how do I plead guilty to possession of marijuana when I had nothing on me, a vehicle that didn't belong to me, no belongings with me other than my diabetes test kit and the jewelry I was wearing?!! I quickly realized that I paid ALOT of money to be part of some dating screening process that had nothing to do with my case. I'm sure if I would have responded to Mr. Getty's unprofessional behavior, my case would have ended quite differently. I would STRONGLY reccomend anybody else as I honestly can't imagine having a more awful experience than this one. Especially if you're a female! I hope this post saves people alot of wasted money and time in the future. read more
