I enjoy shopping at Gerrity's. Fresh baked bread fresh fruits & vegetables. My problem is I can't stand the constant increases. Every week there are increases all over the store. It's like they don't think we are paying attention to prices. Workers are working all night changing the shelf tags. We notice ShopRite. God in heaven please stop greed doesn't look good on Mom. When it was a Shur Save supermarket it had all the right deals and the right specials, now since it is. fresh grocer (shop rite brand) the food maybe the same, the employees may be the same but the specials are not. The store is in a depressing state since the change over and until it gets better I will shop elsewhere. read more

Probably the worst, tightest parking lot of any area supermarket. That's especially risky after 3pm weekdays when it gets packed. Prices are not so great, weekly front page specials are good only once in a while. There is a good variety of fresh vegetables, and a big area of fresh meat cases. They do have some very nice people working there. read more

I placed an order, special request Birthday cake for my husband in Luzerne. First they could not find it. Then they said they had no order, was I sure of the day and store. Not the cleanest looking store... it's old & in need of renovations, but the employees are pleasant, helpful & it looks as if those who work in food prep, bakery, dairy & deli do a great job keeping the food safe & appetizing. People don't really keep socially distant & that includes the employees (although, I don't know how that's possible if you use self-check out & need assistance & there's not much room between people at the registers & those leaving the store, so I suppose it can't be helped... just worth a mention to those who might have to be very cautious of their health), but everyone in the entire store wears a mask every time I visit, so that's good. Decent beer/wine selection for a small store. Good quality meats. They do have cooked chickens near the registers. Quality of produce is better than Wegman's on the 3 visits to each store this October, which was surprising. For a smaller store, they have a decent, albeit small, selection of many products, like in the Health & Beauty Dept. or first aide items. With Covid, like everywhere else, there's a smaller selection of many things. It's conveniently located in a strip mall near 309S Exit 6 on Binghamton St. (near Big Lots, an automotive store & Family Dollar), lots of parking & always full, but the employees move fast, so the wait is never painful. 3.5 to 3.75* out of 5. Good to know: For outsiders visiting, such as myself, every state has different alcohol sale laws & PA is one of the more confusing states. You can buy beer-wine inside most (not all) supermarkets, but in Gerrity's, it must be paid for at the beer dept's register or checkout #1 only. They'll need to scan your ID. Every supermarket has different registers which can ring up alcohol sales, so look for the signs. Hard liquor is sold only at liquor stores, which sometimes carry wine, but never beer & the area's Case stores sell cases of beer only... some are drive-thru & they'll put the case in your trunk. You can also buy a 6-pack at most pizza parlors or bars... the bartender will ring you up. Occasionally, you'll find a restaurant, which sells beer by the 6-pk, as well as some convenience stores at gas stations. Look for the signs. Also, if you want store sale's prices, you'll need to ask for a store rewards card & use your telephone # to key in each time you visit. Cashiers do not have a counter card for visitors. Also, you'll need the physical card if you go through the self-check out... there's no keypad to key in your phone #. Pay attention to sale prices... I paid $10+ more for just a few items because I didn't know I needed a physical card (I don't have one, I'm just an out of state visitor) at the self-check out. read more

Have no issue with the food but the price of the precooked meals by the deli is a joke. Got their large foam container , which isn't large, with 3 sausage links, 3 meatballs, scoop of mashed potatoes and a scoop of corn, 17 dollars ! That's ridiculous. Never again read more

This store required me to use a mask when I have a medical condition that prevents me from wearing the mask. They would not listen to me. The 16 year old children at the service counter thought they knew everything and were dead wrong and very ignorant. Every fan of The Office (U.S.) knows that Garrity's is their supermarket of choice, espesh for birthday cakes. And maybe that's good enough for those Scranton kids. Or maybe I'm just a spoiled New Yorker, but when you're a major supermarket and you don't sell goat cheese, fresh berries (besides straw) or beer (which is state law, so I'm not *too* upset)...we can't be friends. We can, however, be casual acquaintances, because of your low, low prices, supply of local PA treats (Herr's Chips and Tastee Kakes, FTW!) and friendly cashiers. read more

I have loved shopping at Gerrity's for years. Why? Excellent weekly specials, spotless and well-stocked shelves, and employees that are cheerful and polite. Very nice baked goods, salad bar, terrific deli, fresh meats and produce: I always find what I'm looking for here. I prefer Gerrity's to any other supermarket in Wyoming Valley; if anything, they've improved over the years. I noticed you can now shop online and have your groceries delivered, and although I haven't used this service, I think it's a great idea! read more

gerrity's is a good store to shop at. I get a lot and I always come out under budget. When I'm in the store the employees are very friendly and helpful. But their delivery is the worst. When I ordered my order online. I got a call from Amanda to confirm my order. This was at the Luzerne, Pa location. When I asked her very clearly if my order can be fulfilled. Her exact words to me were there is a stock pile in the back. The next day about maybe 5-6 hours before they were going to deliver my order. They called to tell me. That they only have less than half of my items available. When it comes to they're delivery. They're very incompetent , liars, and there is a lot of buck passing. It's just easier to just go to a couple of stores in person and get the items yourself. They shouldn't provide something to people if they can't be honest with the customers. read more

A good market with great meat and some nice baked goods. It's just not the original Gerrity's on Main Street in Scranton (which burned down a while back). That had a great deli and a small beer selection). I miss it. BUT especially now that Acme and Insalaco's are looooonnng gone, Gerrity's is a real contribution to the Back Mountain (though Luzerne's really the other side of the Back Mountain, but it's Back Mountain-accessible). read more

Been going to Gerrity's since I was a child, reasonable prices and a decent selection, of course it's not Wegman's, BUT they by far have the best music for any store EVER! Weird 60's psych pop B-Sides and deepcuts. I'm dying to find out what station they use. great stuff! read more

Decent atmosphere. Has a small restaurant that serves coffee. Take out, ready made meals are cheap. Now that the Sunshine market closed Gerritys is now the cheapest. Just make sure you look at the weekly ad first. read more

I love this place. Honestly it's one of the nicest stores in the chain and in the whole area. Don't mind the older looking appearance. It's a small store but they use the space well, have everything you'll need at prices on par with everyone else. Every once in a while they'll throw out a great sale and make some items super cheap (ex. 18 eggs for 79c or locally made frozen pirogies for $1.99 a bag). This deli and hot foods are fantastic and the workers will do anything to accommodate you. read more
