Paleta Pilgrimage One of the most famous local paleterias comes from the small town of Santa Isabel, also known as General Trias. It's a must stop if you are traveling between Chihuahua and Cuauhtémoc. This small family ice cream shop has since started to sell its paletas throughout the state. However, there is something wonderful about going to the original shop, walking up to the window and taking a bag full. My favorite flavors a are the nuez (pecan), vanilla (vanila), aguacate (avocado), fresa (strawberry) and cafe (coffee). This place closes during the winter so don't expect it any Christmas flavors or pumpkin. The place is family owned it has been there since my parents parents where living.(yes it's been there a very long time) I love it every time I go back home to trías during the summer I make sure I go a couple of times the paletas are worth crossing them the border risking them to be melted in a cooler. Been going here since a youngster when visiting my grandparents in Chihuahua. Haven't found any better than from this unassuming shop in a small town off of the main highway. Worth the detour. read more
