Given this state of affairs, it should come as little surprise that the local Salvation Army is gonna be a grand slam every time. Located at the western end of town in what looks like a flood-ravaged 1950s furniture store, this SA location houses a treasure trove of padded hospital socks, musty blazers, sweet sixteen party t-shirts and the remnants of more than a few epic polka record collections. I stopped in recently and it didn't take long to fill up my shopping cart with some of the choicer pieces of Ilion's unwanted trash. These included multiple old lady sweatshirts, an old train case, some kind of kitschy wooden cactus thingy and multiple pairs of iridescent Italian men's dress shoes that must have belonged to the local cocaine space pimp. Also found a t-shirt from a girl named Veronica's Mardi Gras-themed sweet sixteen party from 2014. This plus the cocaine space pimp shoes pretty much makes my summer wardrobe complete. While Ilion may not have many attractions, jobs or even much of a town at all as most of it's downtown was wiped off the map by urban renewal, the local Salvation Army is hands down the GoaT.

He said he'd look for the part and get back to us by the next day. I texted several days later after not hearing back, and he was completely unfamiliar with who I was. He finally called and said that he emailed a company and was waiting for an email back. Then he said he was really busy between "50 calls a day" and an upcoming knee surgery, but he would let me know what response he got back. We never heard back. I later texted that we found a part and would replace it. Come to find out, that part wasn't even the problem! So he took our money as a diagnostic, never folllowed through, and was incorrect on the problem. Hoping this experience was an exception and not the norm.
