Only one that has experienced a toothache can understand what the sharp pain really feels like. After a five hour constant pain that I could endure no longer and with the help of a friend that highly recommended Dr. Spyropoulos, I called to ask for an immediate visit and was informed, by staff , that they were at the tail end of their office hours of the day. I received a call within two mins inviting me for a visit. The entire staff was welcoming upon my entrance. Within five mins, I was invited into their patient room. Xrays were taken, a cavity was identified and the procedure was performed immediately. I write this comforted, with no pain, and happy to be fine again. Highly personable staff and Doctor. Dr. Spyropoulos has lost a lot of patients due to his lies and money hungry ways. I have been a patient of Dr. Abedini here for about one year for cleanings and Invisalign. I would call this a "basic" dentist. It doesn't have the slickest office or newest equipment, but they do good work, the staff is very friendly and professional, and scheduling and updating appointments is easy. My previous dentist claimed that all sort of things were wrong with my teeth that would require expensive work and I was relieved and validated when Dr. Abedini told me that nothing was wrong with them! The prices are reasonable and I trust that they're not trying to upsell me. I am taking one star off because their xray was broken when I was supposed to get them done and several times I've had to switch rooms due to something not working. read more

If you are afraid of the dentist this is the place to go- he is so gentle I didn't even need numbing - at other places I had to get lots of numbing AND take something for anxiety just to get anything done. I have been going to Dr. Spyropoulos for a few years now. When I had to go this time I ended up seeing Dr. Abendini. It was my first meeting with him and he was so caring and gentle. I had a badly infected tooth. After taking care of the infection he said he would recommend either root canal or pulling it. I decided to get it pulled. We was so gentle. It took almost an hour but he was able to take it out in tact. I did have a little discomfort but thanks to the information he gave me, pain and discomfort was minimal. The staff is so caring. I was today at Dr.George's practice and did teeth cleaning with Rosie Kizic. I was impressed by her work and professionalism. She is also kind, funny and makes you feel welcome. Her honesty is much appreciated. I love how she cleaned my teeth and gave them shiny spark. On the way out she gave me a gift bag for better care of my teeth! Dr.George's office it makes you feel at home. When you seat on their chairs you can feel that Dr. George and Rosie love what they do and they love people! For me, that is the most important. Such a great dentist and his staff is equally the same! Every time whether a phone call or visit to the office every one is just so nice and helpful. I'm glad I made the change for my family! Plus he takes children! My son had a mouthful of cavities which was overlooked by another dentist :( Dr. George was amazing! We ended up doing four different treatments just because it was the first time ever that my 5 year old ever had a treatment done (only ever cleanings). Dr. Spyropoulos was recommended to me by a friend. I needed my first root canal, but had a very hard time finding a dentist I trusted in this area. Most try to scam you or upcharge. I first went to Dr. Spyropoulos after years of rarely going to the dentist. A few months before seeing him, i'd seen another Astoria dentist (who will remain nameless) who told me i needed 8 fillings and a root canal, and also wanted to sell me on braces. Dr. Spyropoulos looked at my x-rays and told me i only needed 2 fillings. It's rare to find that kind of honesty, and it's sincerely appreciated. His staff is great too, and it's always easy to find an appointment that fits with my work schedule. I'm always very satisfied with my treatment at his practice, and he always takes the time to explain what he's doing and why. it's clear that he cares about his craft, not just about his profit margin. read more

I have been going to.this dentist even before I went through my braces phase. When I walk out of this place my teeth feel super clean. I even had him remove my silver fillings and replace them with the white ones - sorry, I don't recall the appropriate term, but I did it with no pain relievers. After that, and perhaps it's the placebo affect or other factors, but my ability to concentrate and be able to sit down and read a book has exponentially gone up. We've talked about this before and he's talked about some other researchers/journals in his field that cited some sick folks did the same as a last resort in trying to figure out some health issues. Anyway, I don't think I've ever had a cavity from this dentist though he once did a preventative filler (and I know I'm completely botching all the dental terminology here ) before it actually became a cavity. All my fillings came from another dentist I use to go to on Steinway St. in my earlier years. I find it hard to trust new doctors and dentists anywhere - my sister went to a dentist in Hoboken and they drilled holes in her back teeth and told her she needed 3 or 4 root canals. She would have to have paid that out of pocket so she left the country to a location where she could get it done for a fraction of the price and when they looked into her mouth, they asked what the other dentist did. They told her that if she really needed that many root canals, she wouldn't have been able to wait that long and would have been in pain. They ended up filling all the holes that Hoboken dentist drilled and sent her on her merry way. With all the money she saved she had a nice vacation while she was there. I know I stray off topic, but it's hard to find a good dentist and since I found one, I'm sticking to him. They also send me text reminders for my appointments and let me always book my next appointment 6 months out before I leave. Afterwards, I walk up the street to a friendly Colombian bakery and get some Pan de Yuca (these days)... :) read more

I think you'd be hard pressed to give any dentist a five star review, but Dr. Spyropoulos deserves it. He immediately puts you at ease and as much as it is possible to enjoy a visit to the dentist, he achieves this in spades. His staff is AMAZING, courteous and diligent, the email and text reminders for appointments rock my world, and all the framed cartoons in the office (dentist-related, naturally) never fail to put a smile on my face. I have come here for a chipped tooth, two fillings and a number of cleanings. I can't remember the name of the doctor in his office that did the cleanings, but she is absolutely wonderful, capable, and thorough. I picked a more expensive insurance plan with my new job just so I could keep him as my dentist - that's how great he is. read more

Horrible! Paid more attention to the young pretty dental assistants than to me, the patient. Came in with a root canal which I paid for in advance, and he left me with unfinished dental work, while he left the country, vacationing in Greece. My open root canal got infected and developed into an excruciating abscess. Cost me several thousand dollars to do to a REAL dentist to drain the abscess and save the tooth. I still regret not suing Spyropulos for medical malpractice, negligence and incompetence. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere. This guy is an incompetent moron. read more
