We purchased wall paper totaling €380.00 from Décor World. We informed the sales person prior to…read morepurchase that the paper must be of a durable quality as it would be hung in a busy hall way where there is a child present. We were told that the paper was of a good quality and would be suitable for this purpose. My husband asked John, an employee of Décor World and the person with whom we had been working on the day we picked up the paper, "If there is any we don't use we can return it, right?" to which John replied, "Of course you can." On Monday the third of November, 2014 a qualified decorator with decades of experience attempted to hang the paper. It tore when lifted and also marked when touched. He said he would not put up such a poor quality paper and phoned Décor World to tell them about the problem. The paper was returned to Décor World that morning in full apart from the bit the decorator attempted to hang. John has stated that he would no longer sell that paper as it was so poor. Décor World refused to refund the money and offered a store credit claiming this was the store policy. The 'store policy' of store credit only was never mentioned and is not posted anywhere in the shop. We gave Décor World another chance to get additional samples in that were of an appropriate quality and within our previously stated budget or near enough. They could not. We asked again for a refund and were refused by Martin (Kelly?) the owner of the shop. This occurred November 10 and 11, 2014. We are meeting with a solicitor.
