Quoted 600$ for procedure, charged $1200 after the procedure was done. My mistake for not getting in writing ahead of time.

Dr Cramer aka Lance and his assistant, Carrie, were so caring with my dog, Emma, who had to be put to sleep at the age of 15 in 2021. I cannot begin to tell everyone how caring and wonderful are the staff who work here. Dr Lance Cramer is a bonus to animal owners.

She used to work with us to keep costs low. Now she overcharges and gives treatments without permission. Dr. Livingston quoted me a price of $500-$600 for my cat's megacolon surgery, and I ended up paying twice that. My cat died soon after, so I don't believe she had the skills to perform the surgery. Dr. Livingston applied flea meds to my dog and charged me for a full box of three doses even though they knew I had just bought flea medicine the previous month and still had two doses at home (and was already paying a lot for other treatments). She's constantly running behind. I'm a very easygoing customer, but it was ridiculously unprofessional. When I decided to leave their practice, I requested our records, and the receptionist rudely said she would have to get permission from Dr. Livingston and she would see if she could send them. They have to release our records by law. I felt like she was threatening to keep our records and trying to intimidate me into staying. I switched to Kolbrooks Veterinary Clinic. It's a longer drive for me, but their prices are way better and they've been super honest and friendly. I am very happy I left Animal Medical Center because I don't think I was treated very well there.

One night this week as we were going through our daily grooming ritual, I felt a lump on my cockapoo that was roughly the size of a walnut. This was in an area where I clean daily and it hadn't been there the night before so I was worried. I called Halfmoon Valley Animal Hospital early the following morning and asked for an emergency appointment for the next day. I didn't even ask for a same day appointment knowing how busy they always are so I was surprised when they offered me an appointment for the same afternoon which I gratefully accepted. They diagnosed an issue their groomer had missed (on both of them), rectified it and crises over. I felt like I received an incredible gift with my dogs being patients of this practice. No matter the issue, regular checkup, medications, or emergency visits the vets, assistants and office staff show professionalism, compassion and patience with each issue. They treat my dogs with genuine kindness and gentleness and the more I depend on my dogs as my service animals the more I tend to forget that they aren't human. Fortunately, they strike a perfect balance and I'm grateful for their services. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who has pets that may be more like family as after several years patronage they have never let me down. Thank you

So much so that my husband and I have made the decision to switch to them for established/routine care. Almost a year ago, they helped us with our puppy, Vito. Our regular vet wasn't available, RoseBird got us in and got him fully recovered quickly. Then again more recently, Dr Lewis saw us through a difficult lymphoma diagnosis. He helped us follow through with keeping our boy Chase comfortable with a decent amount of a quality of life before ultimately assisting him to the rainbow bridge. It amazed me that Dr Lewis was able to remember details about Chase after only a couple of visits without referring to a chart in front of us with as many animals that cross that threshold in a day. And as an added bonus the office is easily accessible and close to home!

I recently traped a feral kitten and received a voucher to cover the cost of shots and spaying with this vet. I called and had to bring her for an exam. I paid for that and her shots. Then took her to be spayed and the vet refused the voucher because I didn't have her in the trap. The was no way possible for me to fit a trap in any vehicle. And I wasn't told she had to be in a trap when the appointment was made. I had to pay for everything. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford the ridiculously high cost of this vet. If they would have told me I never would have taken her there. But they did not. I can't keep her because of my age and failing eyesight. I am extremely upset with how this vet treated this situation. I do not recommend, and yes they still get the money from the voucher but unfortunately they want much more than what the voucher pays. A feral is a feral with or without a trap and it's hard enough getting them down there in the first place. I this voucher helps with the issue of feral cats especially when you cant afford the high cost of shots, spayin and neutering. That's the purpose of the program, not how you are able to get the cat down there. I do not have anything good to say about this vet visit and how the entire situation was handled.

She never once tried to take me over in more than the needed diagnostics at all but did state there are additional options such as ultrasound and others if I was open to it which I was not. She never pressured me for more than what was needed to make a solid diagnoses however did let me know other diagnostics were available. She really cared about Peppi and understood he was my family. On two occasions she or Dr. Blizzard 'made time' for me when Peppi needed in same day due to being old and having heart problems which most all very old little doggies get if they live long enough. Dr. Kocher always explained everything of what was going on with him and she explained what happens in very old dogs with congestive heart and heart valve problems. She put the stethoscope right in my ears and had me listen to his heart beat which even I without any medical training could tell was bad but then explained why the valves weren't beating his heart right and after the blood work and x ray came back went over the blood work and showed me the enlargement of his heart on the x ray. She prescribed appropriate medications and her med fees are in line with all the other vets in the centre region and she didn't take me in this area. Her staff is so nice and very intelligent. These people cared about my dog and I was with State College Veterinary hospital for about 5 years as I moved here with my dog Peppi . Peppi had great care and I was treated very, very well. I like a one or two vet practice myself as the vet or vets know my dog and I'm not just a chart for a vet at a large multi vet practice. At a large multi vet practice and they do a great job also but really, I want the same vet or two vets only as I think the benefit to the animal is better in a one or two vet practice. The costs are in line with all other vet practices in the centre region. It's a small two vet practice which is a bonus for me, she isn't afraid to explain anything that's going on in common language, she will, or Dr. Blizzard, if really need be make time for a senior dog needing to be seen same day. I recommend this practice highly. If you are a Serious Pet Owner and care about the health and welfare of your pet this is the place for you.

They have helped us through everything with our animals from new puppies to sending our 19 year old Lab over the rainbow bridge. They could not have been better, kinder, more helpful to us. Dr. Crudens knows his stuff, but won't overmedicate or over-treat for things that can be resolved with dietary changes or simple fixes. The one emergency we had with out cat who caught a virus and required fluids, special diet and an overnight stay. The bill was less than I anticipated. Pet ownership is expensive, but in State College, All Pets is probably the most reasonably priced vet, and the care cannot be beat!

We've been referred to Dr. Cruden after visiting another exotics vet who wasn't comfortable with…read morebirds. Well, I don't know how good Dr. Cruden is with birds, because I could never get to see him. But what I CAN say is that the staff is utterly uneducated in basics of avian medicine. A bird is not a cat or a dog. Parrots are birds of prey, and it is in their genes to hide illnesses as long as they can. Otherwise their flock will abandon them in fear of attracting predators. Dear receptionist, if a bird owner calls you with a sick bird it means that the bird is so sick that, if not seen, it'll die within 24-48 hours. You CANNOT offer them appointments in two weeks!!! The bird will die by that time!!! The bird owner is NOT exaggerating anything!!! I had to call this hospital on a couple of serious occasions asking to see my bird. The receptionist coldly offered me an appointment in 7-14 days. When I directly told her that my bird would not need an appointment in 2 weeks because she would die by that time, the receptionist just dispassionately said "well, I offered you an appointment, this is the best we can do!" It's the same as telling a woman in labor to come deliver her child in a month!!! How heartless can you be?! I will never ever call this hospital again. Enough of awful treatment. I was lucky to find a great avian vet in another city and, yes, I was willing to drive 2 hours one way so that he could see my bird the same day. To all bird owners in State College: there is no one in State College who can help your sick bird. Some exotic vets will agree to "see" your bird, but they won't "treat" it. This vet, who supposedly sees the most birds in State College, will not even see your bird while it's still alive, because he is too busy and his receptionist is too senseless. These people do not care about your feathered friend. Please, save your time calling this hospital, unless you're ok bringing your dead bird to an appointment in 2 weeks. What a shame!
