I would never recommend Harbor Hospice--especially for families caring for terminally ill loved…read moreones at home. When my husband was referred to them through the VA, I was very clear that we wanted him to pass at home--not in a facility. Harbor assured me they had nurses in our area and offered continuous bedside care when the time came. None of that turned out to be true. The week before his death, I repeatedly told them something had changed. He wasn't eating, barely drinking, and I even shared a table I created highlighting symptoms typical of brain cancer patients in their final days. Still, they insisted he wasn't "actively dying." On a Saturday, the director told me to give him morphine every hour. That night a nurse came out and I asked about continuous care. I was told it wouldn't probably start until Monday. I told her he didn't have that long. The next morning, I called repeatedly starting at 6am. No nurse came. I had to call back at 11:02am to report his death. I was completely alone. In his final hours, I had to learn how to use the suction machine from a friend in another state because Harbor never showed me. I was left to panic--when I should have been holding his hand and saying goodbye. To make matters worse, I had to take down and move his hospital bed outside myself after several ignored calls for pickup. They ghosted us after that--no follow-up, no bereavement support. The chaplain, who started building a relationship with our daughter to help her through grief, vanished. We haven't heard a word. Harbor failed us in every possible way. No family should ever have to go through what we did.

This causes a lot of issues between roommates and they have to change rooms, sometimes more than once! This just puts a lot of stress on both patients. They put alert patients in with a patient that may have mental issues, or an alert patient with bathroom privileges with a patient that needs care every 2 hrs. which disturbs the alert patient. Speaking of wounds, they allowed a sore on my Mother's leg to go unevaluated by a dermatologist and she's now got skin cancer to the bone and she's too weak to endure the skin cancer treatments and surgeries thanks to their neglect of putting in her teeth, which they lost, and then refused to admit it until I produced a pic of her smiling with her teeth in during a Covid window visit. They also lost her wedding ring too and most of her clothing. I can back up all claims of abuse.

They walked us through this process compassionately and lovingly - taking our burden upon their shoulders and giving us a chance to breathe, to grieve... Everyone we dealt with at Devotion was an angel, providing us with top notch, quality care - but I must especially single out Mya (my mom's aide - who came and bathed her each week) and Marcie, her nurse, who was the most incredible person!!! She was (literally) available to me 24/7 - even when she was undergoing some health issues of her own! She kept me informed and prepared for what lay ahead. I feel like she is now a forever friend! The end of life process is hard and sad, but Devotion Hospice made the experience so much more bearable for my family!

He greets him by putting himself at my husband's level to talk with him, as he has dementia/Parkinson's & currently bedridden. I feel Asad is one of God's earthly angels! Lilly, our Hospice nurse, is an absolute gem! She visits 2x a week, checks him from head to toe and provides impeccable care...always gentle, very caring & helpful in so many ways. The staff that I have met/talked with genuinely care and always available to help with our needs...equipment,meds, supplies quickly provided! I can't exclude the office staff as they are friendly, attentive & ready to serve. Stephanie, Social Worker, always available, efficiently provides answers to my many questions & concerns. Chaplain Alan, a gentle soul, comes for visits & prays with us. Such a sweet man! We are truly blessed to be with Oasis Hospice care!
