Alan guided us around the old town explaining the history and showing us key sights interspersed with stops at 5-6 (so many I lost count) artisanal chocolate shops where we feasted of pralines (in American parlance-bon bons or filled chocolates ) ranging from caramel to chili/mango, crème brûlée and more. Most were almost too pretty to even eat and we savored every precious bite. The artistry and skill was amazing and the quality super high as Belgiums like FRESH chocolate. All of them were the evening tours so they gave you a perfect mix of history but also the cool stories too! The first one I took was in Bruges and the guide named Bram was fantastic. He was local to the area and the views were great. Our tour size was about 10ish people and was perfect. The second tour was in Brussels and I had Ellie as a guide. She knew a lot about the area and had studied museum history so it was perfect. There were only 3 of us on the tour so it was quite casual. The third tour I met up with a friend and we toured Antwerp with our guide Tom. It was just the two of us for that tour and Tom did a great job showing us the sites and not rushing us through! All the tours and guides were fantastic and I truly recommend taking a tour. Especially the evening tours because you get history that you wouldn't have thought to explore!

My tour guide today was Maggie. Maggie is a Brussels native and very cheery. Clearly excited to show people her city, she was positive and outgoing. The tour lasted 2.5 hours, taking us past the highlights of the old city including the famous Mannekin Pis, the Galleries de la Reine, up the Mont des Arts and more. Only one downer in the tour, Maggie spent a good ten minutes addressing the atrocities of the Belgian Congo, a topic that she is clearly passionate about. And yes, the tour is free with the tour guide paid in tips. The solicitation was modest and not too much. Maggie also invited us to the beer tour that night which she would be running. A good time with Sandemans. I'll continue to use their tours in other European cities.

We left our ship and met him in the main town square of this gorgeous Medieval city. We followed him around like ducklings for about three hours as he took us from the square along the canals and through the old parts of town, explaining everything along the way. Want to know why there are brass seashells embedded in the cobbled sidewalks? Ask Andy. Wondering why there are dates, mostly from the 1700s and earlier, painted large on the facades of some buildings? Andy will tell you. Need to find the best waffles in Europe? Andy's your man. He's incredibly knowledgeable and ready to share everything he knows. The time flew and we loved every minute of it. When the tour was over, he pointed each of us toward the things we wanted to see. Suggestion to follow exact address (I keyed in on Grand Palace area) We started our walking tour visiting various sites close to the Grand Palace area. We stopped at a couple of Chocolatiers for samples which were delicious. The Travel company now has their own kitchen that prepares the food. We had a Beer tasting. Mahleur which is a local craft beer. We had the Quad that was an award winner. The Mussels were large and delicious as well the Meatball dish. We were all commenting on how this was a substantial meal as we were expecting tasting portions. After lunch the walking tour continued and we ended at Mokafe Tavern where we had a waffle and choice of drink. I went with the Hot Chocolate. Wow! Both were amazing! Avo, our guide, was amazing. He's been around and gave us so many tips-where to go and what do in Brussels (I.e Downtown-good local food, High-town-Touristy) Would highly recommend this tour!
