Exquisite seafood, wonderful gelato, pasta perfetto, and incredibly friendly staff. Not being used to Italian dining, my wife and I both ordered four courses from the menu. Unlike some other places we had eaten where each course was small, here each course was practically a full meal. The waiter was quite taken aback that we had eaten so little of our food, and due to our limited command of the language we had difficulty explaining that the food was fine but that we had simply ordered too much of it. He apologetically explained that since we had eaten some of the food from each course he could not give us a refund -- even though we had not asked for a refund or expected one. I highly recommend La Bussola for anyone looking for a place to eat in Portoferraio. I hope to be able to go back some day.
