I think this place is finally hitting its stride. The menu is now much larger, but a lot of the complaints from the first couple weeks appear to be fixed. We had a 7:30 reservation and waited about five minutes max after checking in until we were seating. Our server greeted us fairly quickly and she was great. I wish I remember her name. The free chips and salsa were really good, and our drinks arrived quickly. My wife ordered the geisha margarita with mango and immediately fell in love. She's always on the lookout for spicy mango margaritas and this one is one of her favorites now. Their espresso martinis are also very good. Drinks were reasonably priced ($13-14). We ordered the queso fundido with chorizo for an appetizer and it was pretty good. My wife ordered the octopus tacos and aguachile. The aguachile was pretty spicy, and she said the tacos were "ok." I got the ribeye tacos and really enjoyed them, but there was a pinkish sauce on it that wasn't mentioned on the menu. Wasn't a fan of it but I was able to scrape it off. It might have just been a mistake in the kitchen. For $15 for two tacos I feel like it should come with beans or rice, though. My main issue with the original Tempo down the street was it was way too loud and they practically forced you to buy Tempo branded water bottles. Here, the music is a little loud but you can still have a conversation. When we asked for water, we were given two bottle options or tap. We weren't offered tap the last couple times we went to OG, so it's nice to see the change here. I was going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars. It's still a new restaurant and they've clearly improved in the past couple weeks. For now it's a 5 star because the staff was super friendly and as soon as we walked out we both agreed we'd love to come back sooner than later. read more

We are huge fans of this brand having visited both the Anaheim Hills and Brea locations often. TAPS was our favorite "special occasion" brunch spot, so when we heard Tempo was taking over the space, we were excited to try it for Mother's Day. Unfortunately our experience was very poor. We had a reservation for 11:30 and showed up a bit early and were seated on time. Initial service was prompt and effective (chips, drink orders) but from there it went downhill fast. It took a while for our server to ask for our order and when she finally arrived she told us that the entire menu wasn't available. They were trying to "streamline" so sushi wasn't going to open until 1pm. That was disappointing as most of our table wanted to share some rolls. We ordered what we could and as she was leaving the server told us, "Please be patient, the kitchen is backed up, but I'm here if you need anything..." Turned out "backed up" was the understatement of the year. We got two rounds of drinks and one refill of chips, but at 1pm when the food had not come out after over an hour we spoke to the manager, received a comp for the cocktails and left. What's more concerning is that there was really no practical reason for the delay. The restaurant was busy but there were empty tables and a TON of waitstaff. Most of the team was occupied running drinks (since that's all anyone could order and be served), and I think we only saw one table get food (and it was sushi despite our being told it wasn't available) in all the time we were there. I'm really disappointed because the menu looked good, the place is well-decorated and appropriately vibe-y but I don't think we'll ever be back. If this is the same team behind the other successful Tempo restaurants it's shocking they were not better prepared to manage the volume and execute on such an important day of the year. I imagine there were a lot of former TAPS customers hoping to become TEMPO customers and I can't imagine that happening after yesterday. read more

I must agree with the many disappointed customers on Mother's Day. What's the point of making a reservation if you don't get seated at that time or even close. We waited in the bar had a few drinks. 1 hr later, "We can seat you, but the food will be delayed another 1hr ...holy cow! There's only so much chips and salsa you can eat. Most of the things on the menu you couldn't even order ,kitchen too backed up. Yes the waitresses were very nice and apologetic, but all around very disorganized. I also find it a bit disheartening that the owner only replies to all the "good " reviews and no acknowledgment/ regret that there were many disappointed customers on what was supposed to be a special lunch/ brunch day. read more

I was finally able to visit the new location in Downtown Brea. I loved the interior of the restaurant and the paintings on the walls. We had a great server. She was very attentive, but we've never had issues with service at any of the Tempo locations. This latest Brea location is definitely a vibe, with a little more emphasis on seafood. This establishment is chaotic and provides horrible service. They completely forgot my meal and drinks. The wait time from placing our order to receiving our food at the table was nearly an hour. Our waitress never bothered to refill our water. Furthermore, they charge for additional chips, which I was fine with, but I expected to receive salsa with them, and I did not. I call this place a circus because the interior resembles one, and the staff seems completely disorganized. They would bring out food and incorrectly ask if it was for our table. We had a very negative experience, and because the gratuity is automatically included, the staff seems unconcerned about the quality of service. It's truly a shame. I observed a family seated near us who waited for a similar length of time, and the restaurant only brought out one person's plate while the rest of the family was still waiting for their meals. How would I describe this restaurant to others, I would simply put it as unsatisfactory if you came here for the atmosphere congrats cause that's what you'll be looking at for the next hour or so as you await your food which by the time that it gets there it will be more cold than the winter nights. As I came here to enjoy a beautiful and romantic dinner with my wife it started off with an amazing appetizer but after that it took our waiter bout an hour or more for our side dishes and entree to get to us both might I add served at the same time so cold entrees just getting colder as we try to enjoy our sides. As for our server sad to say saw him less times the our next door neighbors server who would keep coming to attend his guests and refilling their waters.
