The servers and, I believe, the owners seemed to know everyone. We speak only rudimentary German and only one young woman spoke a bit of English. But we were still treated great. We muddled through the menu with what we knew and some guesses and a bit of help with Google translator. My wife went with the white asparagus risotto while I ordered one of the specials which we paired with a bottle of Riesling. Now to be fair I knew I was ordering a meat per the German word "fleisch". But I didn't recognize the type. Well "sülzfleisch" it turns out was a type of headcheese, home made, with a sauce on the side and baked potatoes. I was surprised but dug in. Both dishes were excellent! Great food and relaxed atmosphere. Worth stopping by.

Waiter also brought two large plates of tiramisu and panna cotta on the house to our group, was also a pleasant surprise and a very nice touch. I always appreciate when servers go out of their way to ensure you have a good dining experience. Good service goes a long way in my eyes and really makes the restaurant stand out. Will gladly come here again in the future. (One note to keep in mind: restaurant only accepts cash).

The headline for this restaurant should read "Sorgenfrei aber nicht Zuckerfrei". This somewhat…read morehighly touted boutique restaurant is, in my humble and usually generous opinion, a bit of a fraud. The set three or four course menu when I dined there recently was almost from start to finish a hyperglicemic's worst nightmare, every course from the scallop starter to the miniscule (fortunately) serving of kohlrabi "souped" up with vanilla, mango and other sweets to the sweet reduction on the beef. Not to mention the beef was served with SWEET potatoes. The scallop course had chunks of sweetened miniature corn and was topped for who knows what reason with crushed corn nuts! Scallops are somewhat delicate and the corn nuts really did them in. To give them credit the wines were good from different regions of Germany and France. To top things off, between the second and main course I was served a cup of espresso. Well, I thought, here's something novel, an intermezzo surprise to cleanse the palate after all the cloying sweetness but the surprise was that it was mis-delivered to me instead of to another table. The restaurant is too precious for words but no value for the money. Did I mention I left before dessert?

Ana took care of any and all of our requests and were very flexible with the menu. A few of our guests had some dietary requirements and all of these were taken care of by the kitchen. The food here is fantastic. Great ingredients cooked simply but well. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly and the wine we were offered was of equal quality. Its hard to find a restaurant that offers food of this standard with a wine service to match but this is a reason why I will definitely be going back to Tanica again! Thank you for a fantastic afternoon and keep doing what you're doing!

We got across the river to the Latäng District with no traffic at all - this must be what it's like when people are happy to use public transport options. The restaurant is covered in wallpaper of old photographs from the founding proprietress, Paula Kleinmann. Oma means "Grandma". The original photos are back with her family when the business was sold in 2023 to the Wolf and Küther-Jankovic families, who still operate it. Grandma Kleinmann passed away in 2009 at the age of 95, but her recipes live on here. The menu is simple - it's all schnitzel. We ordered a regular veal schnitzel with mushroom sauce and a Viennese pork schnitzel with "curry ketchup" so that we could better understand the difference. As far as we can tell, the meat for the Viennese pork schnitzel is sliced thinner and the batter doesn't fall off when you cut it. The meat for the regular schnitzel is thicker as its its batter, so pieces tend to crumble off when you cut it. Both were excellent, so it's just a matter of preference. Our son preferred the regular schnitzel and I preferred the Viennese one. I'm only sad that we had to leave leftovers on the table, but we really couldn't eat another bite. We like that they made non-alcoholic drinks. Our son had the blackcurrent spritzer and I had the rhubarb one. We also ordered a dessert of strawberry ice cream which was embedded with frozen strawberries. We hustled back to the hotel on public transport, taking first the train and then catching the last bus back. https://www.beiomakleinmann.de

The spazle portion was enormous and loaded with gorgeously caramelized onions and cheese. The cheese schnitzels were exactly as you could imagine, crispy crunchy on the outside with a golden crusty and ooey gooey stretchy cheese on the inside, paired with either sauce it was fantastic. Jaegar sauce was packed with mushrooms in a brown gravy and the Balkan were fresh chopped onions, a flavorful red sauce and a white sauce with fresh herbs. Amazing amazing. Easily one of the best meals I had on my trip. Oh I made a reservation by the way so not sure how walking in would look like. Staff were very nice.
