Unlike many biergarten's I have been to this place is not busy at all. Unless you know this place exists you would not find it. It's affiliated with Lowenbrau and serves Lowenbrau helles and Paulaner Weissbier. The service is casual and friendly. I would happily come back here anytime for a drink and maybe try the food next time.

I've never been tempted to go here before because it backs onto a quite major road and looks like it would be noisy, but actually it turned out to be relatively peaceful with a nice enclosed beer garden. The beer garden food is about as good as anywhere I've been that has a separate, outdoor bar and cook-house. One surprise is that they seem to serve really nice salads in the beer garden as well as more usual fair. Best of all, my favourite of all Bavarian beers, Konig Ludwig Dunkels is on sale here. I'd still go to Franzz in preference to here, but if you're looking for a nice beer garden in West Munich you could do a lot worse than here.

Food here is typical Bavarian and the groß brezn was excellent. The staff are very friendly and English is not spoken much at all. Any attempt at German here or a friendly servus would get you by well. There is a table service area attached to a nice old building and a kids play area. As with traditional biergarten you are allowed to bring your own food and I observed some groups that did just that. I would happily come back here any day.

Located about 400m from the Gern U-Bahnhof its easy to get to by public transport. The Biergarten is relatively small and probably fits a few hundred people. They serve Hofbräuhaus bier here and during this time of year they have their Maibock or what is also commonly referred to as sommerbier. Dark and slightly sweet this is a higher alcohol content bier and it's divine. The staff here are very friendly and the food is good. They have a huge selection of salads and cold dinner options as well as a grill with lots of Bavarian choices for food. I had the spareribs and they were excellent. It's Bavarian style spareribs and not smothered in sauce. It's drier than American style ribs but good nevertheless. I have dropped people off here many times however, never been in. I would happily come back here again. A nice local Biergarten in a beautiful suburb.
