Rudeness from our waiter was my initial impression. No greetings, showed impatience when taking our orders, and even rewarded himself with a tip added to the bill without our consent. Pay with cash only! Really? What hotel/restaurant doesn't accept credit cards?
To top it off, a second waiter (not serving us) was heard saying the F*** word when almost bumping into another customer.
Being a Waiter requires people skills that obviously these two are severely lacking.
This was our first encounter interacting with Germans and really left a bad image in my mind about them in general.
Fortunately, the rest of our journey thru Germany visiting Rothenburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Oberammergau, my interactions with the Germans where, for the most part, positive, friendly and hospitable!
