They have recently upgraded the Wi-Fi network and it is fast, although I believe there is now a limit on the bandwidth used. A delicious breakfast is included, and I highly recommend it. The owner is on site and is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a short drive from the Hannover airport. If you are coming by train from city centre, it will take you about 20 minutes. The hotel is walkable from the train station, although if you have a lot of luggage you should probably take a taxi. In addition to the hotel restaurant, there are several other good restaurants within a couple of blocks. One time when I stayed here, I had to catch an early train because I had several connections to make to get to Frankfurt. When I mentioned this, they prepared my breakfast to go since I had to leave before the usual time. I thought this was very nice, especially since it was offered to me without asking, and there was no extra charge. When I stay here, I feel like I am with "family".

I highly recommend staying here. A breakfast buffet included, in the evening they have the most wonderful steakhouse and bar. But the best thing about this hotel is the people that work here -- I have never experienced such a feeling of warmth and care at any hotel that I stayed at during my travels.

A bit out of the way in tiny Bissendorf, Kuhlmanns is housed in a charming old brick and timber…read morebuilding. The cuisine is traditional north german, and is the best I've had in Hannover and surrounding environs so far. I also appreciate that the menu follows the seasons with lots of spargel and fresh garlic in the spring and grünkohl in the winter etc. It's on the spendy side (EUR15-25 for an entree) but for a special occasion it could be a good choice. And while you're there, see if you can find the one very odd and somewhat out of place piece of decor -- a signed drumstick from the drummer of the Scorpions, who apparently eats there regularly!
