This place is Awesome!…read more Super friendly and professional. The reason that I chose this place was because the way they answered the phone, they want to help you and you don't feel like you are bothering them, I called at least 4 dentistry offices and they all had the attitude of not wanting my business (like an airport employee). Also I had a really good experience as a patient I had virtually no pain during a root canal procedure I'm very please.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Once you walk in, the office has a positive vibe. Paperwork is pretty simple and only takes you 5 min. There is street parking available which is not a huddle at all. I had a pleasant experience. They also notified me about their in house dental insurance- $350 a year you get an xray, 2 cleanings and exams, and 25% off if you need any procedures like root canal etc. they also offer care credit separate from the insurance which assists you with payments. They were very informative and not pushy at all! They kept emphasizing "this is our recommendation but it's ultimately up to you". We also got free dental floss toothpaste and brushes in the end. Nice practice and will consider getting in house insurance!

*This was a review that I wrote a 2 years ago but never published it. Maybe things have changed…read moresince then so please do your due diligence. It pains me to write a negative review because Dr. Song is a very good dentist. From what I can tell, she has done a great job at fixing my teeth. Unfortunately the office let me down by not being upfront about the costs. After having to shell out a couple thousand dollars for dental work at Columbia University Dental Associates in 2019, I decided to get dental insurance to avoid the high cost. I returned later to get my teeth cleaned and the office at 121st street didn't have any of my insurance information on file. I gave them my Aetna dental ID number and a man told me (I kid you not) that the number won't help him find my insurance information. I refused to get my teeth cleaned until I was assured that it would be covered by the insurance that I have already paid several hundred dollars for. Suddenly, he miraculously found my insurance information and I got my teeth cleaned. After the cleaning, they told me that I had to return the following day because Dr. Song was not there to check my teeth. This was the second time I had this happen to me there - I get my teeth cleaned and then they tell me the dentist doesn't have time so I have to return later. I return the next day to see Dr. Song. She checks my teeth and tells me that I need to replace an old filling in the back and fill two small cavities in the front. We made an appointment and I came back and she did the fillings. She did a great job. She's a good dentist. But after the procedure was over, I was at the front desk and I asked the woman how much I am responsible for. She goes into the system, looks at my insurance, does the math, looks me in the eyes, and tells me that I am responsible for $201. I remember feeling relieved because the cleanings, Xray, and fillings would have cost $1,500 without insurance. That's more money than I made in a month while I was in grad school. I paid her the $201 that day. Then, ten days later, someone from their office went into Aetna's system (Aetna has this on record) to look at my insurance again. Apparently they saw something different, or did the math differently, and I was charged an extra $194 for a "downgrade." The dental office never called me to tell me that they made a mistake. They never told me there had been a downgrade. Aetna told me about it. Here's the thing: Dr Song, her assistants, and the woman at the front desk are extremely nice people. They are not jerks. But after my wife and I have spent countless hours on the phone over the years dealing with surprise charges from dentists and doctors, I cannot stand to be screwed over anymore. The system does not have our best interests in mind. At the very least, a doctor or dentist should be completely upfront with their patients about the cost of every procedure. Every other business in the world works like this but, when it comes to health care, it doesn't. There is no accountability for doctors and dentists when it comes to billing so the only thing we can do, as consumers, is write negative reviews online and stop doing business with them. It's time for doctors and dentists to put our interests in mind. If they don't, I won't do business with them anymore - even if they are nice people. And I advise everyone to do the same.

I'm actually quite shocked at all of the negative reviews. I hadn't been to a dentist in an…read moreembarrassing amount of time (about ten years) for several reasons. As a child, I never had significant dental issues (just a cavity here or there), I didn't have dental insurance as an adult, and I've always had a fear of dentists. My time away from the dentist exasperated this fear, as I'd grown unfamiliar with what the dentist is really like. Well, I'm 28 now and recently cracked a molar on some crunchy food. Fortunately, I have dental insurance. Using my insurance provider's website, 125th Dental was the earliest appointment I could find. It's nowhere near my apartment (I live on the UES), and the office definitely has an inner-city "clinic" vibe....but all of the staff is incredibly kind and helpful and the treatment rooms are clean. I explained to the dental hygienist and the dentist that I was nervous and fearful, and they made sure to keep me calm and work as fast as possible. After my exam and cleaning, we identified a few cavities AND that I grind my teeth in my sleep. I've since returned two times for subsequent fillings and to be fitted for a night guard. Dr. Yoon worked quickly and efficiently and was extremely gentle. Her expert care made me genuinely curious as to why I was ever afraid of the dentist in the first place. Most importantly (to me), no one in the office was judgmental or infantilizing when acknowledging the fact that I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time. I was never given a lecture, etc. - just advice and care. As for the cracked tooth - it requires attention from an endodontist, to which Dr. Yoon offered a referral that takes my insurance. I have an appointment with them coming up this month.

5 STAR SERVICE. This is why…read more Friday night at 7pm, left a voice mail that I'm from out of town and am having dental pain. Early Monday morning, the office returns my call. They get my insurance info and tell me they will call back after contacting my insurance company. Within 30 minutes, the office calls back to confirm that they spoke with my dental insurance provider, confirmed exactly what was covered, and that they would bill my insurance directly. Then, they found me a SAME-DAY appointment later in the afternoon at 3pm. When I arrived, I did not know what to think at first. I've never been to a dentists office inside an apartment building before. After I met the staff, I DID NOT GIVE THAT ANOTHER THOUGHT. My dental hygienist was CARLEMI. Not Carmel or Carmeli or Carmela. CARLEMI. Remember that name because she is the BEST. She asked detailed, thorough questions about my tooth discomfort, quickly and painlessly took the x-rays, and cleaned and polished my teeth. She was warm, intelligent, funny, caring, and professional. Could not ask for more. Doctor Robertson was beyond a consummate professional. He immediately inspires trust and confidence. It is clear the doctor has been doing this for a long time and really knows what he is doing. On top of that, Dr. Robertson gives the type of personal service that one would expect more from a very small town doctor. He encouraged me to call him on his cell phone no matter what the hour if I had an emergency. He encouraged me to call the office to schedule a quick drop-in if I began to feel any more pain. He did NOT try to sell me anything I didn't need. He encouraged me to take a practical, sensible approach to save time and money and offered a cost-saving option just in case the pain returned. In short, I LOVED this doctor and his office staff and the entire experience from beginning to end. They made me want to move to Harlem. Go to the Harlem Center, and tell them Steven from Portland sent you. No reason. I just think that would be hysterical if you did.

The waiting times have always been really short, I don't think I have ever had to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting rooms. The hygienists that have done my cleanings have been very kind, professional and my teeth always feel and look nice and clean afterwards. I have also come in for one filling and the dentist who did the filling was efficient yet did a great job without any issues - the service was also done at a fair price. Dr. Robertson is always friendly and makes sure to ask if I have any new issues or questions; he is also very knowledgeable. I am glad to have found a good dentistry in the area!
