complete waste of time. I spent $100 to get the free lifetime update. I updated it and turned it off and plugged it bk in and redid this and all the steps required.. by the end of it I hit the road (several hours later) and then about 30 minutes into the trip turned it to plug in the address to the hotel we would be checking into. Guess what? now, you have no maps loaded at all. "Nuvi cannot function without them". Great! the $100 down the drain and the update has now removed all the maps I already had on my garmin. If I could give Garmin Int a -10 I would but that's not possible. I have been dealing with this company and there crappy service for years they have the longest hold time in history and the worst customer service. I have a Garmin 1490T that has a worse sense of direction that me and that's saying a lot!! I asked for a Post Office and it gave me the nearest location was 40 miles away and this was in a City. I called on the 6th of December to exchange and was still waiting on the 15th of DEc for delivery. I called Garmin and they forgot to ship the unit. When I received the replacement used unit it was totally USELESS because it could not hold a charge the pins in the back of the unit were damaged. Of course Garmin did not bother to fix unit before shipping. I than decided to order a new Garmin on the 3rd of December. I was promised it would ship next day. Well of course that was a fantasy ... I called on the 10th of Jan and was told the unit was on back order would only ship at the end of Jan. I am living in a new city and not having a GPS is a huge, huge time suck and inconvenience. I can honestly say that Garmin INT is the worst company I have had the misfortune to deal with in the US. read more

garmin lm, lifetime free update maps. what they mean by 'free' is that you have to have a lot of free time to upload them to your device. what a hassle. i own 2 of their devices and i have spent a total of 3.5 hours to update them one time! read more
