Friday, Sept. 4th I was so excited to order & ship garlic intended for recipients for that special occasion on the east coast. I was given an ETA of Sept. 11th or 12 which coincided perfectly for which is was intended. Well those days came and gone. Your party on the east coast ends up extremely disappointed and your left crushed because you promised it would be there and it isn't. My intentions were so sincere. Of course I called and come to find out it took another 6 days to process and for my order and even leave the shop. The explanation was Labor Day, new shipment of garlic and I'm sorry. Well folks it's now Sept. 16th and it still isn't there. According to Garlic World UPS states it maybe there on the 17th now possibly the 18th because they are behind in deliveries as well. I might be the little guy but logistics and solid promise dates are vital to customers coming back and YOU BROKE MY HEART! read more

Always have driven by this place and have been curious to drop in on my way to and from Monterey / Carmel / Big Sur... Had a chance to stop off this time around, and checked out their store filled with racks of hot sauces, stuffed olives (free samples!), marinades, and rubs. They also have a food truck parked on the side that serves up a huge portion of garlic fries ($2 small, $3 large), and BBQ (didn't get a chance to sample that this time around). We stopped here last month. My boyfriend bought some crushed garlic, black licorice, and some cherries. The cherries were rotten the next day, the black licorice was so old it crumbled in his hand and I noticed when we got home the Crushed garlic expires in a few months. Absolutely love this place. The garlic is always fresh and will last a long time. They have such variety of pickled items, it's hard to choose from. They have, it seems, a little bit of everything. The people are very courteous and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. read more

I'm from Texas where barbecue is beef brisket. Please go have a tri tip sandwich. It is simply heavenly. One of the guys is from Texas...this is how it's done. What a fun place to go! There's plenty of dried fruits, nuts and veggies along with fresh fruits and veggies at really reasonable prices. There's also just about every kind of pistachio you can think of and then in the adjoining section, there's just about every kind of garlic you could ever want. Pickled garlic, olives, garlic stuffed olives, pepper stuffed olives, BBQ sauces, rubs, marinades, etc. etc. Super nice staff as well. I want to come back and try the BBQ and try more items! Great place to buy gifts. Lots of parking. It's right by the 101 but not so easy to get too.

The place is overpriced! I accidentally paid 25.95 for garlic salt; it tasted the same as the ones in the grocery stores. It could also use some dusting. The best part was seeing the farm animals outside though. read more

Absolutely fantastic with everything garlic you can imagine. Had to stop when out here and learned they accept on line orders that made me very happy! Prices are very reasonable! DO NOT enter if you have a "sweet tooth" as they have a ton of items to tempt you with! Bought a few packages of dried fruit and it was all fantastic.... well worth the time to drive over or sit and order from your computer. read more

Try the garlic vannella ice cream. After a few bites you can't tell there is garlic anymore. But the first bite is a trip to garlic heaven.

You know you see this place your whole life and you never make the trip out there, but I'm glad to say that I did recently and found what I was looking for. Pepper Plant hot sauce. They had all of the varieties at a good price. They also have numerous other garlic-y things from olives to jellies. Love coming to this place! First time we found this place was on a pit stop from Monterey to SF. Since then, whenever we're down South, we made the trip as a MUST to visit the store before heading home to SF. Lots of wonderful and yummy stuff, and they are cheap!! We did our grocery shopping for the week in this place on the way home to SF. Looking for Garlic stuff and fresh produce? this IS THE place!! Last time we went, we bought garlic, yellow onion for $.29/ lb, white onion for $.50/ lb, red onion for $.49/lb, and half case of strawberry for $7.50!! and they are sooo sweet!!! This place is awesome!! So many unique sauces and condiments. Some things are pricey but we got a few things that were a REALLY good deal.

I come here once a year and they are always sold out of their garlic mushrooms. They are always very accommodating and always take our phone number so they can call us when they have more stock. This year year...they had the mushrooms! So we grabbed a whole bunch of bottles. Also, they have a little BBQ place in the back. If your looking for a quick bite. I recommend to try it because the BBQ burger was quite delicious. read more

Very very touristy shop. They have nothing you can't either buy at any of the fruit stands in the area. Much of what they sell is not local such as jams, sauces, marinades, and hot sauces. We were very disappointed in what we saw. Restroom was dirty and staff didn't even acknowledge us until we were ready to make a purchase. read more

You'll get better prices and more selection here than at the Garlic Shoppe next door. However, this place is still obviously for tourists which means prices are still high. Only come to buy stuff you can't get elsewhere which includes their pickled garlic. Melinda's Jolokia Naga is $7.99 here compared to $3.99 at Cost Plus. Tabasco 5oz is also $7.99. read more

Great for all products garlic. The garlic stuffed olives and pickled garlic are my favorite. Let's not forget the marinated mushrooms are to die for! Also a HUGE selection of hot sauce. The staff is really helpful and nice for any questions. I recommend picking up some pepper jelly while there. The gift baskets make great gifts during the holidays and they even ship them out for you. The prices for the produce is great and the quality is amazing. read more

I love garlic, anything pickled, and hot sauce. Garlic world satisfies all of those categories. They have pickled garlic in several varieties(habanero, dill, italian, jalapeño, and a few others I can't remember). I've spent over $200 dollars here in the past 30 days. I have no complaints on the prices, although it seems that others do. I found the prices to be pretty good actually and definitely competitive with what you would pay at a grocery store. One of my jars of spicy pickles was mislabeled at $7.99. I found this out at home, and I'm not going to fret over a couple dollars; I'm sure that if I inquired with the operators, they would understand and remedy the "situation". Cute place with great produce, sauces, spices, wines, and of course, garlic! The staff is super friendly and the malted milk balls they sell there are AMAZING. Only complaint is the location, right off 101 N and tricky to get to from 101 S. Wine selection was also pretty depleted when we visited. read more

I have been purchasing a 5 lb box of garlic for my personal use every six months for well over 25 years. I have purchased California, Mexican and Spanish garlic and while the California garlic (which you find during the summer months) is by far superior to the others I have never received a box that I would consider returning. The owner and the staff are customer oriented - friendly and responsive and are always candid about their product and are not hesitant to tell you where the product is from and how it compares to their home grown California garlic. I just received a 5 lb box that they shipped to me from Garlic World (Spain garlic) and I can tell you that even though it is not as strong as the California garlic the knobs are large and it is better than any garlic that I have been able to find in a store. In a number of cases the owner and staff have warned me about the fragile nature of the product and even included some additional knobs to offset any possible loss. I cannot say enough about the quality of the support that I have received from this company during the past 25 years and look forward to ordering from them into the foreseeable future. Looked up the best places for Garlic ice cream and this place came out on top. I've been wanting to try it for awhile and finally got the chance to swing by earlier this week. I LOVED it, I wish i could of bought a pint or even a couple little cups but by the time I got to my home it would of been melted. I do plan on stopping by again though when Im passing threw. Garlic World has a large selection of everything from fresh jarred garlic, to BBQ sauces and oils. They also have produce and dried fruit. We got some garlic fries from the food truck Fresh Ketch which were amazing! They were getting ready to close up, but he was happy to stick around knowing we were going to order some fries. Would be happy to go back especially in summer when there's a lot more fresh produce to pick from. read more

Me and all my buddies had the jack*** idea to venture out to Gilroy, Calif******fornia from Orange County. Probably the dumbest idea I've had while on the devil's lettuce. Before we get to the ice cream, we need to address the beautiful scenery here in Gilroy, that sure is one thing that I can take away from my experience. Now on the the main course...garlic ice cream. I'm no Gordon Ramsey but that sounds absolutely horrendous. And it surely tasted exactly the way it sounds. A mix between Garlic Powerbait© and dog's breath, this ice cream sure had me on the John for 2+ hours. Honestly, I thought about buying 30 more ice cream cups and using them to catch trout down at the local lake. l barely digested this nonsensical food item and I'm still in pain from how disgusting this was. Not to mention, my breath smells absolutely awful ever since I've had the ice cream. Anyone who likes the ice cream probably pours milk before their cereal or eats steak with ketchup. Thanks Gilroy for making me appreciate eating everything other than garlic because eating the ice cream could be compared to torture in ancient Mesopotamia. To sum up, skip this bait and tackle store, and get some real ice cream. read more

Perhaps my expectations for Garlic World was too high, but after getting lost and trying to find this darn place for half an hour (plus an hour drive from sf) i can honestly say this was NOT worth the drive. Garlic World is simply a small store filled with various products (not strictly all garlic products). Out in the front, there's a truck that sells various garlic food such as garlic fries, trip tip sandwiches, sausages, etc. The trip tip was good, but slightly dry. I was thoroughly impressed with the garlic salsa as a free condiment though. It was zesty and you can actually taste the garlic. The garlic pistachios was probably the best buy from garlic world. Not so much a fan for the garlic ice cream, but on a brighter note, you can barely taste the garlic, it's more of like an after taste of the ice cream. Good place to go if you're in the area and want to pass time, but definitely not worth the drive. read more

I drive past Garlic World a couple times each week, and I've stopped in to buy a few things here on a number of occasions. But I don't shop here much any more-- it reminds me too much of a tourist trap. Some of their local, seasonal produce is very reasonably priced, but most of their fancy sauces and garlic products seem overpriced. They have a good selection of wines--but the quality and pricing is nothing great. I've not had any of their BBQ or other prepared food-- only produce and garlic. My favorite product is their garlic-flavored pistachios--but I've stopped buying them, too, because the store personnel were so dense. I wanted to buy their largest bag of flavored pistachios to save money (1 LB? 3 LB?), but they were out of the large size bag. So I brought three smaller bags to the counter and told them I'd pay the same discounted price for all the nuts that they would have charged me if it was all in one three-pound bag. They seemed confused, then said that the register would automatically give me the right price, which it did not. I took back my credit card, left the nuts on the counter and walked out. I'm not a tourist; I don't like it when a business tries to rip me off. read more
