This was going to be the last time we would probably vacation together as a family in that my son is now 21 and starting a new career and my older daughter 18 is heading off to college so we spent countless hours trying to find the perfect hotels to stay. After all this planning, it was devastating to learn that we would be returning back to the USA just as we landed in France in that my wife's brother had just passed away at a young age.
This trip was going to be pretty expensive so one of my tasks upon returning home was to try and unwind the trip. This included cancelling hotel rooms, car rentals, tours, etc. Every hotel was accommodating and understood our difficulty and was more than willing to offer us a full refund. That is except Le Grand Hotel des Thermes. Very cold and insensitive - poor customer service.
We saved our itinerary and are planning to take another stab at this trip next year (most likely without our son). We will be rebooking the same hotels but rest assured, Le Grand Hotel des Thermes will not be on the list.
