One of my garage door springs broke late last Friday. Expecting that my vehicles would be stuck in the garage all weekend, I called Garage Essentials to schedule an appointment for the following week. To my pleasant surprise, Tom arrived just 30 minutes later and began the repair. He was very friendly and good at explaining the mechanics of it all. He was also able to identify some of the corners that had been cut by the original installers and get those things corrected. In other words, he didn't just replace the broken spring --- has also fixed the things that led to the breakage in the first place! To my mind, that's a real repair job! The cost was reasonable, the repair was very thorough, and Tom was a pleasure to have around. When I called, I spoke to the owner of the company, Tom, and explained my situations. He was very understanding and came right away! Other companies I called required an emergency fee, I couldn't afford the additional fee but Tom waived the fee and came within 30 minutes after I called. A very honest and trustworthy man and business he runs. I've called 3 times over the years for garage door repairs. The first one was replacing springs and the other two were struts needed for failing panels that cause garage doors to buck when closed. I recently ordered a strut and he came over to deliver what I thought I needed. Before he arrived, I moved an existing strut to where the problem was and that fixed the problem. He examined my door and said the strut was originally put in the wrong place and that I had moved it to the correct position. Called this morning about some horrible grinding and reversal of direction of both garage doors. Tom said he could check things out, and offered to stop by the house in 45 minutes. He was two minutes EARLY! Completed the repairs at a VERY fair price! I now have two doors that function beautifully, and don't make me cringe! His work is first rate.
