I am disgusted by their lies and awful things I have heard over the course of my studies. From dismissing hearing and mental conditions as an excuse to the administration staff telling teachers that they have to reach a certain pass rate by either failing students that deserve to go on or passing students that should have failed. I have witnessed clinical instructors teaching students while poking the patient with the same needle more than once which is a huge health violation. They prefer students not with healthcare backgrounds so they don't get called out for their lack of proper education. They promise resources and help to students that need assistance but to the students that reach out, are scolded instead for even working once or twice a week and dismiss their requests for assistance. Their remediation for failing a test is talking to students that are a class ahead of you to tutor you for an hour without bringing up the test or similar questions so all that's left for them to say is to read the book with outdated information that contradicts what we learn online or in person. They leave it up to the students to decide which source to trust which leads to constant mistakes that are never learned. I admit my flaws as a student. I have lived with hearing aids and when they were broken I got no assistance from the school. I will admit I scored 73% and 74% in med surg and pharm (passing grade is 75%). I take accountability for my own actions but my mistake was assuming the school would be responsible enough to do the same. After all their smiles and fronts they put up. Once you are admitted and you're financially tied to them, they don't care about you anymore so unless you have 100k to spare for nursing and no responsibilities as an adult to teach yourself. My California CNA skills exam was confirmed in the official TMU/Headmaster system, but days before the test the school emailed and told me it was cancelled and that it "would not take place" if I showed up. TMU told me my exam was still scheduled and even had to call the school to remind them they were required to test me. On test day there were other students testing at the site, even though the administrator had told me there was no exam and that exams would no longer be offered there, which left me feeling singled out and misled. Throughout the program, it often felt like some students received more support and opportunities than others, which gave me the impression of favoritism rather than equal treatment. The school promotes itself as professional and student‑focused, but the way my exam was handled did not feel fair or transparent. He is a great instructor but be ready to work hard, practice and learn. He is willing to allow students who have passed the exam to come and practice which is always a plus to gain more experience.

Ever since I found them back in 2023, I have been so fortunate to find such a good group of very passionate, knowledgeable, and funny instructors for all my class needs. Both Mike (my pervious instructor) and Robert (my most recent instructor) are great at teaching and help us with not only knowing the knowledge material, BUT also applying that knowledge material to the real world. I always feel so much better and more capable to handle BLS & ACLS/PALS codes after each class! Now, time for the logistics. Parking is either to the back of the building, or on the streets. Very spacious street parking. Class sizes are usually smaller, with a MAX capacity of 10-12 students, depending on sign-ups. CPR mannequins (both adult/child and newborn infants) are in clean, intact, and great for practicing CPR. The adult/child CPR has LED lights to indicate good compression depth and rates. Class structure has (2) 10-15 minutes breaks, and the testing material at the end with (MegaCodes & official test). MegaCodes are scary, but Robert and Mike both made the environment feel safe to help calm down major nerves. Restrooms are located to the left of the classrooms. Local area has great food! Past the 405 freeway into Mission Hills, there is the Olivo at Mission Hills! Great food options, and quick enough for you to get a bite if you decide to do the PALS/ACLS renewal all on the same day haha! Not to far of a drive. Overall, I like this training institute because they are very flexible and they can work with you as far as scheduling and payment plans as long as you communicate with them. Mr. Aguila is also a very knowledgeable, hands-on instructor for the morning class. The pay plan is affordable, and you don't have to pay every thing up front. As long as you have a bank account, you can make monthly payments and they dont run your credit or have you use any co-signers. I heard about General Assembly classes because they list them on Facebook and it popped up in my…read morefeed as a targeted ad. I'm glad for this as that is how I signed up for a free 2-hour introductory class to coding. The class covered HTML and CSS and was designed to just a quick intro to see if you would be interested in taking a full class. Still I was surprised how much I learned in just a free intro course. Our instructor Allie covered a ton of theory so we understood the big picture and how the different developer languages (HTML, CSS and Javascript) played different roles. Much of the class was her guiding us through actually creating a mock webpage by immediately applying the coding principles and info she taught. I highly recommend bringing your computer for the hands-on portion. Also, Allie listed additional resources for us to explore on our own time, and we were promised the slide deck after. Being totally new to coding, I was able to take what I learned from the intro class and actually fix an issue THE NEXT DAY on the website that I manage for work! I rely on website templates but don't understand the HTML and CSS behind it so I was able to override the template that doesn't even allow me to change font attributes on hyperlinked text. Once you sign up for a class they send you promo emails with discounts, so I will probably look into taking a more full class. TIP: this is located right in the heart of Little Tokyo so there is plenty of sushi, ramen and snack options available before or after going to class here.

If you're one who can't stick to learning on your own online, face-to-face instruction is the way to go. 2. I also like that they offer a wide variety of topics from web development and digital marketing to project management, sales pitching, and communication skills. 3. The instructors I've had so far have been knowledgeable and nice. 4. They have many free talks in the evenings, sometimes even with free nibbles. I attended one on the art of sales pitching. I think it was called something like "How to Sell Anything to Anyone." The speaker was excellent, and he gave really good tips. 5. The DTLA location has convenient parking ($5 evenings and wknds) at Joe's Garage a few doors down. I also like that you can enjoy the many Little Tokyo restaurants before or after class :) Cons: 1. Cost. If you want to take their multi-day courses, expect to pay $$$. That's what you gotta expect for in-person classes from a private school. I'd love to take more classes, but I can't be spending more thousands of dollars. Yes, they have a payment plan, but you still gotta pay them back. 2. If you're looking to start a new career, don't expect to be "career ready" after you've spent all that money. The classes don't go into much depth. They're more of an overview, just enough to get you started. Then comes the hard part - studying on your own by following all the blogs and video content out there. THAT takes discipline, and nobody can help you there. I wish knowledge could just be implanted in my brain without my having to exert effort. Just being honest. 3. They never answer the phone. The only way to get a response is via email. If you're on your way to an evening or weekend class and need to reach someone, you won't get a response if it's outside normal business hours. Conclusion: If you're disciplined and highly motivated, save your money and take advantage of the overwhelming number of free resources online. But if you're a lazy a-hole like me and you're willing to spend some serious money, take a GA course to at least get you started and pointed in the right direction.
