Great place to get your booze on the Lisburn Road. Called in her before the football on Friday…read morenight to grab a bottle or two and was surprised about the depth of the store. I say depth because on the outside it looks relatively small but once you're inside it stretches all the way back. They use this space to stock a wide variety of alcohol including a good selection of beer and everything from fine wine to Lambrini. Don't look round the store for the spirit section, they keep the hard stuff behind the counter. Open until 11pm this is a good place to grab a few drinks after an afternoon pint. Be warned on match day evening they operate a one in one out policy and you may have to wait to even get close to the booze. Although don't fear the counter staff have this serving malarky down to a tee. They are also fluent in drunk so you won't need your subtitles turned on in here. All in all a good and handy store. No complaints from me.

It's a strange place compared to a lot of the other off sales stores in Belfast. It looks a little dated and the door bell is the loudest, most irritating thing ever. I really do feel bad for the employees having to hear it everyday. In saying that, those employees are lovely people, there are a lot of deals always on, saving you lots of money and its just so close...so very close!

This place…read moreused to be the biggest off licence imaginable, a warehouse in fact of beers, wines, ciders and spirits. It is now a lot more modest with the space being split between a small off licence and a large alcohol cash and carry. While this means things are a little bit easier to find, the choice of booze etc is not what it once was and the prices are actually a little big higher than the other off licences in Bangor. If it wasn't for the staff, who are always friendly and helpful this place would probably get two stars, but the effort they always put in makes this a pretty solid 3-star off licence. You will get what you pay for but you may have to pay a little bit more than you would normally.

One of Bangor's many off licences and certainly one of the best known. This is probably due to its…read morereputation for having wee kids always hanging about the shops and causing trouble, which isn't really the staff at this excellent wee shops fault. The shop is always clean and tidy and the stock is always filled out and with plenty of fridges here you will never have a problem getting a cold beer or bottle of wine. There is a good selection of red wines and spirits and the staff are always helpful if you can't find what you need. There is good parking here and an ATM nearby, but they do cashback if you want to pay on your card.

You know what you're getting with Winemark, a decent selection of your main beers, ciders and stouts, wines and spirits with good offers from time to time. The guys in Ballyholme Winemark know a decent bit about wine too if you're stuck and their staff have always been friendly over the 15 years I've been going here. I think it's the banter of the staff and sometimes other customers I go back for. They don't offer a breathtaking variety of spirits but I suppose they know their target customers well enough by now. Recently due to the boom of craft beers they've started stocking some terrific ones from the Hilden brewery which I have been sampling keenly recently as I'm slowly moving away from wild nights drinking Buckfast (which they sell by the barrel load). They also usually have free samples of wine or spirits on a Friday and Saturday which I think a lot of customers enjoy. There's parking right outside too and in the adjoining streets, a bank machine a few metres away and a Chinese takeaway and a supermarket right across the road for provisions for the evening and to line your stomach...!

It's not easy to find good wine in here, it's either cheap plonk or more expensive stuff you wouldn't recognise unless you have a enclyopaedic knowledge of wine. Still I'm keen to get every ounce out of my local off licence so I resolved to find something especially with the road was smoothed by a shot of promotional peach shnapps they'd given me. When in doubt about wine to choose I look for prizewinning labels. The only one I found in here was a bottle of Castillo de Molina Sauvigon Blanc, 2009 from the Elqui Valley in Chile, which was a success. It's far easier to get beer, cider and spirits in here though. The staff are nice too, and keen to advise on the spirit line especially so when my household needed a bottle of rum or whiskey I came here and went home happily supplied.
