The results were signed off by a nurse practitioner I have never met, and released to MyChart the same day. I waited several days for a phone call about my results, then curiosity got the better of me. I went online and found a reputable website that explained to me how to read the results. Memorial Sloan Kettering for the win, I guess. I was shocked. According to the results, my liver is in extremely bad shape. We had that ice storm, so I waited a few days after that to call GAP. I explained to the staffer that it had been over a week since my FibroScan, and I had not heard anything. She said someone would call me. Later that afternoon I received a call from someone that I am assuming was a nurse, she never did introduce herself properly. She just flat out, no caring tone in her voice whatsoever, tells me that I have advanced liver disease and the doctor wants to do a video visit soon. She was about to hang up when I asked her why I had to be the one to initiate contact about my results. She said she didn't know, and that the results should have come across her desk. I told her I did not appreciate finding out such alarming news from Google. I used to love GAP. It was in February 2017 that I had my first colonoscopy, which ended up finding my rectal cancer. I was 39. The gastroenterologist I had then was very caring. He seemed almost as alarmed as I was at finding out I had cancer. He sent me to the best colorectal surgeon in town, which got the ball rolling on my treatment. I am over 8 years cancer free now. Several years ago, he decided to move over to the research side, so he is no longer seeing patients. I am with a new doctor now, who seems hell bent on getting me on GLP-1s to lose weight.
