A very small store, but they do seem to sell quite a wide range. The prices are quite high as is normal for Gap but during the sales you can pick up a good bargain. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. read more

This is one of not many remaining town centre branches of Mothercare, and is much smaller than most of the more common out of town stores. This Mothercare has a range of clothes and accessories for babies and children up to about 8 years old, as well as a small selection of baby and toddler toys, and pushchairs and car seats. Their clothes have a reputation for being good quality, but the brand is not as popular as it used to be. Price wise, Mothercare struggles to compete with discounted shops and the web, but still must have some loyal shoppers who remember going there as children themselves.

Their clothing quality is ok, but you can't really argue for the price. The baby clothing is excellent for the amount of time they use it for! They've also started selling their own brand of make-up in there, which is worth investigating.

It has also lost it's 'home' section. The nearest home section is now in Torquay of all places and NOT the regions Capital! This is very poorly allocated, as Torquay doesn't have the 'footfall' of Exeter, and it's based in a very small and limited parking estate called 'The Willows'. Very inconvenient when this is over half an hour away, and then with 'seasonal' traffic, you are looking at more than double the time to get there. VERY off putting! Come on M&S! Pull your finger out and be more creative with what you have. I don't appreciate when I asked the question in store about homeware, to then be told "to look online"! I hardly call that 'customer service' in the first instance, and don't most people like to see what they buy before they buy it? rather than looking at a picture online??? It doesn't give the true indication of size, width, etc...

I would consider myself quite a fan of H&M, on the plus side their prices are mostly very reasonable and they offer a good range of staple plain basics (T-shirts, jeans, jumpers). Negative points include the erratic sizing and small quantities of stock. I'm impressed with the children's clothes, which are good quality and imaginative. For boys especially this is one of very few places to get more individual clothing at these prices, and not limited to only blues and browns. Age over 9 they do get a bit more conservative, unfortunately.
