My Mom made sure I had copies and gave me Laura's business card and said she would answer any questions about the documents that I had. In 2021, I did need to ask questions and I called Laura Petrelli. I was charged $100 for an hour-long consultation to ask questions about documents she was already paid to create. But ok. I paid it, and got answers to the questions I had at the time. In 2022 my Mom became very ill and very fast. I had to use the General Durable Power of Attorney, and more questions arose. Laura was away on vacation, and I kept getting messages back from her paralegal saying it was a conflict to talk to me?? After persisting and calling and emailing Laura for days, she finally got back to me to tell me my Mom had called her and left a message saying she wanted to change the POA. My mom was not feeling well, and angry at her situation, and this very well may have been true. However, I was still named POA at that time, and needed Laura to answer questions about the document! No legal advice-- just a question about how the document was filled out. Next, I'm trying to sell my Mom's house, as she had been admitted to a nursing home, and I learn that I need original copies of the POAs and the will in order to be able to do anything. NOT ONCE did Laura ever tell me this. I asked my Mom, and she also didn't know this. Mom didn't know where the originals were. She had a folder from Peek Goldstone, and it contains copies-- no originals. My Mom swore she was never given originals and everything she was given was in the folder. We looked through everything she had and couldn't find the originals. Laura Petrelli says she doesn't have originals and can't help us. My Mom has passed, and now I've hired another lawyer to help me get through probate. That's right. Despite the fact that my Mom spent hundreds of dollars to try and be prepared, it was all for nothing. But Peek Goldstone sure got their money. I know not all of this is Laura Petrelli's fault, but I do feel she could have done a FAR better job of leading my Mom and I through this process. And I do feel the term "money hungry" fits, since it seemed like I couldn't get any help unless I was willing to pay.
