He was very self centered and acted like he was above all of the others in the comic book community. Many times that I was there he would berate a regular customer but act like it was in a joking manor. Here is my one and only complaint and it's major enough I knocked the stars down to 3 rather than 5. The store is often a mess. Huge boxes of books blocking walkways. Carts of books blocking your way. As well, the shelves are often a mess. The place looks like a rummage sale rather than a book store. That's ok but then they need to charge rummage sale prices.

I've worked in the service industry so I get that I could've caught someone on a bad day or I just…read morehad an experience that was atypical for a business. It also means that I'm generally courteous and understanding when it comes to folks that are working with customers. It's tiring work. I've only been here once (it's not the closest store to where I live and happened to be in the area and wanted to check it out), so it may be wiser to use the experiences of other folks that are regulars. When I asked, they said they used the TCG Player marketplace market value for prices and I started making card choices based on that to pull singles. The first card they gave me a price for was more than $1 more than the market place value I had pulled up on my phone (for an $8 card). No problem. They adjusted it and we moved on. Everything seemed fine. They pulled a land card that had a market place value of 50c or so and they said it was $1.5 because of its rarity (they have minimum values based on rarity that trumps market place). Ok, I decided to take the lands off my list. I wasn't rude and I could understand if my ignorance of their pricing system might be annoying if they are used to regulars. I'm used to other places with a 0.5 minimum but no up charge for rarity. Then they pulled another card which was the most expensive version - completely understandable if that's all that's left. I said I'd pass and that I was just building a deck to play with and didn't need to get the more expensive one so I'd pass. Again, I wasn't being rude. The cashier was potentially just tired of dealing with a newbie to the store and told me that I was "talking to the wrong person as I have all the shiniest versions of cards. That's what sleeves are for." Honestly, in hindsight I should have just left then and not bought anything, but I felt obliged since folks had searched for cards for me. I bought my handful of singles and left. I don't plan to return. The inside of the store is ok, nothing fancy. Not that ambiance in a gaming store is a deal-breaker. I'd say their singles selection is similar or slightly larger than Wizard's Alley for MTG, but smaller and not as well displayed as One Drop. Their general booster selection wasn't great, but there were a handful (sold out of Lorwyn and Secrets of Strixhaven). I'd certainly recommend Wizard's Alley or One Drop based on my own experience with the staff and seeing their selection. I've been to One Drop several times and get most of my singles there. Maybe if Mana Vault was my regular haunt it would be great, but as a first-timer here it wasn't.

To make us wait to make sure you get the most out of each book is wrong. If you want to update your prices that is fine. If I went to buy a new car and they wanted more than the sticker price it would be considered unlawful. In my opinion you are doing the same thing.
