Admittedly it's been a while since I've been to this shop, but from what I've heard and read from…read morelocal comic fans like myself, the store hasn't improved since my last trip. Eclipse is one of the few spots in Rolla to get yourself a comic, which makes it so weird when you walk in and the people running the place stare you down like a vulture waiting for their prey to die as you walk around looking for a book. It's like they're judging you, waiting for you to pick the right book out of the lot, or they're just trying to play up the stereotype of nerds being socially awkward. The selection of books they have is nice, but it's a bit of an unorganized mess for the most part, especially in terms of older / preowned comics. If you're looking for something specific, my advice would be to just stick to Comixology, Ebay, or Amazon. If you're just in the mood for a new comic without any real preference, then stopping by here won't kill ya'. As for Dungeons and Dragons devotees looking for somewhere to play, I've heard this is a decent place to play, but the tables set up for sessions in the back feel very tacked on at the last second. Like the person in charge of this location wasn't confident enough in selling comic books so they had to set up D&D tables just to compensate. It's weird.

Not the worst, but I'd rather go elsewhere for comics…read more Let me clarify that I am not a gamer. I'm aiming this review mostly at this store's books and comics (as is suggested by the store's name). The store has a great front window display, though it seems to have been neglected lately. There are some great, massive terrain pieces, of what looks like Mount Dhoom. I showed my son, hoping to point out miniatures or figures battling it out, but sadly, no. When I walked in, there were two people playing a card game at the counter. The attendant said, "Hey," but that was about it. The store is large with a lot of open space, clean, and uncluttered; which is actually one of its faults. It looks really empty. Other than the window display, the store lacks any character. I was able to immediately size up the store's comic selection as it was limited to just a few dividers. There are some used books, which is a nice addition to your normal comic store. The comics seemed to be all new, with a decent selection, and a few TPBs. The books are all used. There are no back issue boxes, figures, etc. to be seen. Very little in the way of any actual comic book stuff. As for the gaming stuff, there are several tables, and a table of terrain for Warhammer. Again, I am not a gamer, so I can only give a very "surface deep" review. There was a ton of space to play and a decent amount of products for sale. One thing that stood out, was a gawdy full scale throne in the back of the store next to a bunch of MTG card displays. I have to assume (did not ask as they were completely ignoring myself and my wife) that this was to recognize a victory during a tournament or something. Whatever it was for, it added some character to sparse decor. I didn't love it. In fact, I don't love this store so much, I am willing to drive an additional 30 minutes from where I live to go to Springfield's shop. Maybe if I were a gamer, and I came at a peak time for gaming, I may have added a star, but even then, this is not a 4 or 5 star spot. I feel this store has become accustomed to being the "only game in town" as far as comics go. Bottom line: not a bad place, but not worth the drive for comics.

I was starting to get a bit stir crazy after reading all the books I brought with me here. After having no luck finding any books that weren't a hour away I'm really glad I stumbled upon this place. They have a wide collection of books for the local area. Half of the store is geared towards kids though. They do have a section of The New York Times bestsellers. (Which were 15% off, score!) They also have a wide variety of other books to choose from. It is not a large book store and you might not find all the books you want, but trust me it's the best you can find in rolla/waynesville. I found 4 books that I really wanted, Particular Sadness of Yellow Cake, The Help, Something Borrowed, and Water for Elephants. I decided to just get one book, The Help. I'm sure before I make my long drive back home I will come and pick up more books. The store also has some cool nic nacs that kind of remind me of what you could find at urban outfitters. They also had book marks and a gift wrapping station. The service was friendly and all around a pleasant experience. They also have a large selection of magazines and a $1 book section, I think those are used books though. *If you show your military id you get 10% off! Nice!
