A lot of the art isn't that great, and isn't a good representation of the arts scene in the South Coast. I've heard they are expanding and maybe that will improve things. If you aren't coming here for an after-school program as a kid there isn't much reason to stop by when the library has better art, is right across the street, and is free.

The staff are friendly and do a great job up keeping this museum. There are so many interactive pieces and so much history of the surrounding area, not just whaling. When I first walked in I didn't realize how big the museum was either- it's massive. You can easily make a day trip out of this. The observation deck was easily my favorite part of the museum and there are so many cute shops and restaurants around it as well. I highly recommend everyone stops here!
