I was informed that the piece was damaged and needed to be appraised. No problem for me or my husband who agreed to purchase the piece with in the range quoted when the appraisal was completed. We would wait until Miriam had finished the appraisal. Each week I inquired about the piece. Today I learned the gallery has offered it to another buyer without the appraisal being done. Now we are being asked to bid on the piece at a price much higher they we were told. To add insult to injury we have bought TWO other works by the same artist from this gallery. BUYERS, beware! Allie greeted us as we walked in the door with her wonderful southern charm. So many things to choose from, from Art, jewelry, and many many novelty items. Mike definitely has an eye for art. What he he does with the pictures that he takes his self is incredible. He touches them up to bring out the beauty of the colors and then puts them on a wrapped canvas. If you've been around a while, you might remember it as the antique store. Anyway, get your car in the right hand lane right after you pass Tidal Creek and PULL IN. Do this especially if you need a birthday gift, Christmas/Holiday gift, etc. Trust me. Everything in there is made with the intent of creating earth friendly, recycled products. They have really cool upcycled bottle openers, screen printed flour sack towels, upcycled furniture, jewelry, terrariums, candles, the list goes on. A common theme is native plants (Venus flytrap art), ocean themes (octopus earrings), and water sports (surfboard screen printed bottle openers) Robert Holst's prints are vivid and capture the Wrightsville Beach past (The Glenn Inn) and present. Add to the fact that they do custom work (furniture upcycling anyone?) and you've got a winner. This place is truly worth a visit.
