After stretching the canvases (with support bar as they're over-sized), they securely wrapped each painting individually, then covered the whole lot to protect them from the weather. When I unwrapped the paintings at home, I found that the crew at West End Gallery had also provided and installed the hanging hardware at no extra cost. Absolutely lovely experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of framing, canvas stretching, or art. My boyfriend's dad bought an awesome sculpture of a chameleon (which he started to call Roger on the way home)... along with several paintings (they have built up a collection over many years) We looked around: - A shop full of jewellery/clocks/sculptures and paintings - A gallery of be-autiful photographs - A couple of different studios and shops full of paintings - A textile shop - A shop for art supplies - A framing shop with pretty cards/ cups /small gifts There were a couple of artists that were away, so we didn't get to see everything, but it was really nice to wander around. They have events, workshops and festivals...as well as a café, so it is a nice place to explore. The prices are reasonable (especially compared to London) so it is definitely worth a peek.

I have been here on several occasions and it's a great half day out if you are in the area. The restaurant is lovely and there's an outdoor seating area for sunny days. Bunting brightens up the buildings and there are lovely flowers. Sometimes the little shops don't stick to their opening hours but it's worth a look around. It's a great place to do art courses or visit an exhibition or fair - when it can get very busy. I went to the Teddy Bear fair and also did a felting course which was very enjoyable. Personally I like the beading and jewellery-making selection, which is pretty impressive. Lots of glass beads, acrylic, copper wires, findings etc - and stuff to also make boy bling, like packets of shell beads, cord etc. The only real downside is the location, which is a bit of a walk from the city centre. Sure it's great if you have a car because there's loads of free parking. But if you're on foot, you do have to make a special trip in a rather wind exposed and unattractive part of town! As I don't live in Nottingham, when I do go there, I don't usually have a great deal of time to spend and have to rely on public transport and my feet to get from a to b. Consequently I tend to visit the central stores rather than make a special trip to the Lady Bay Retail Park. That's really the only downside.

Admission is completely free, and it is a great place for people to learn about the history of the local area. There is a fine collection of porcelain celebrating the cities links with Royal Crown Derby, a military gallery, wildlife displays, an archaeology gallery, and an exhibit reconstructing Bonnie Prince Charlies visit to the city on his way to claim the English thrown. The museum is also home to many of Joseph Wrights paintings. Joseph Wright was born in the city and was a celebrated 18th century artist. The gallery has the largest collection of the artist's work anywhere in the world. This museum is highly recommended.

Most of the pictures in Gallery 3 are either originals or limited edition prints, with a good mix of different media - watercolour, oils etc. There are small alcoves that highlight a particular artist, where you can sit in a comfy seat and peruse some stunning paintings. Next to each artists group of paintings, was a photograph of them, with a piece about their life and inspirations, a nice idea. Art is very subjective, but for me the large oil paintings of a bustling Piccadilly Square and a Parisian street at night were the pick of the bunch. Obviously being mostly originals, the prices were high, but I genuinely thought some of the paintings were worth their price tag. You can even get a limited edition print by none-other than Mr Rolf Harris!
