I did not know he was such a narcissistic twat until he went off to WWI and was humbled and matured by the soldiers he met. There's a painting by Klimt I wanted to see, Death and Life, but unfortunately two of their floors were closed for some renovations, so I was disappointed that I was unable to view it during my visit to Vienna. The sweeping staircase is stunning - marble, gold, frescoed ceiling. We went to the picture gallery, upstairs. It's full of paintings by the European old masters. The modernists are more my thing, but this was lovely to see and in a beautiful setting too. Highly recommend for fans of baroque, renaissance, and late gothic art. We bought a few things in the gift shop and wandered off for more Vienna sightseeing.

When he saw it, he liked it too. Out popped the phone and off he wandered to take pictures. There is a small covered shopping area, sort of like a mall. You walk in and there are several small shops around a central bar. Some of the shops have an upstairs, so be sure to check everything out! Hubs isn't much of a shopper, so he got a drink at the bar while waiting for me to finish souvenir hunting before joining him. We each had a drink and I picked up some postcards. The bartender wasn't very talkative, but he was friendly and nice. The shops all carry different stuff, but each is quirky and artsy in it's own way....everything fits in in this area. A worthwhile stop, in my opinion, especially if you are looking for something a little different than all the renaissance and Victorian historical stuff. 52/2025

I love that they only glaze the inside of their pieces. It creates this rough unfinished exterior with a smooth glossy interior. They have a couple different lines. Including one with more neutral colors, "raw," which is made from the scraps from the main line. No piece is exactly the same color. While much of the museum is devoted to Austrian and European clocks, there is also a section with timepieces from Japan/China. There is English text for pretty much everything I saw. The only thing that made my experience at the Clock museum less enjoyable was a docent who kept staring at me in a particularly hostile way, as she followed me & blocked hallways/doorways so it was difficult for me to pass.
