I decided to stop by to see the spa. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by the Owner, Pam and given a tour. I learned that for just shy of $40 a month, I can use the Spa facilities and have unlimited access to the Infrared Sauna, Salt Room, Jade Fusion Bed and Water Massage Table. This is a great deal as I was paying well over that each month for the Infrared Sauna alone where we lived prior. The health benefits of an infrared sauna are amazing and not mention what it has done to my skin - it's smooth and has cleared up some stubborn acne! The Infrared Sauna is different from a standard steam sauna as it's dry heat. Also, the infrared sauna is better for me as I'm sensitive to heat - this doesn't get nearly as hot. I've noticed that I have a lot more energy after going, I've lost weight and I sleep better at night. All huge bonuses for me, as I'm not a deep sleeper. Perhaps, it's all of those toxins coming out of my body. The Salt Room that I was going to before, was more of a Salt Cave with several people in a room at one time breathing the salt air. This is different as it's more of a salt chamber for one person. However, Pam explained that with the chamber, the salt is more concentrated, so instead of spending 45 minutes in a room with strangers as I did before, I could do this quickly, in private in just 15 minutes. The salt is a must for me. I can tell when I don't go. I've been a fan of this for years and looked everyplace in Montana for one - I'm so happy that I found Ambience as it's the only one in the state! The Salt helps with my Rosacea (less red), makes my skin softer and helps with my sinuses and ear problems. I was turned onto the Salt Room a couple of years ago when I had a friend with terrible eczema and after going to the Salt Room for 30 days, she looked the best she had in years - it was practically gone! You have to be consistent though, which is one of the reasons I love Ambience - I can go as often as I want. I usually start with a water massage to relax, then read a magazine or book in the Infrared Sauna, followed by meditation in the Salt Chamber. It takes about an hour to do all three, but it's great alone time and so incredibly relaxing! Ambience offers a monthly spa package (which I have), tanning bed packages, spray tans or a combo of the spa package/tanning package. Go see Pam and try something new!

My experience at the other malibu tan in Bozeman (off 23rd), regardless of the tan experience, has been horribly affected by rude staff, who always act thoroughly inconvenienced when I ask questions about the beds or spray tanning options. Kadence gave great advice, was HAPPY to help, and she wore a smile during the entire interaction. I don't write a lot of reviews, but she was worth noting, and I hope upper management recognizes her kindness and excellent customer service. I would say that the tanning beds at this location are hit & miss. They have some amazing beds, and some that are not so great. The Versapro Spray Tan machine does not dry between passes, which is very odd, and leaves you feeling a little stickier than those that have more dry cycles. However, the nozzles on this Versapro spray WAY more evenly than the Versapro at the Malibu Tan off 23rd. So, it's a lose/lose. At this location they will also offer you a robe if you are cocktail tanning, so that you don't have to put your clothes and shoes back on between bed tanning and spray tanning, which is an amazing and highly appreciated gesture.

Well, after standing in the bed it occurred to me that it made no sense to wait and I might as well cancel while I was already present. So on my way out, I say "hey I might as well do it while I'm here, what was I thinking?" Ha. I sign a slice of paper that she tells me will end my contract and I go on my merry way. Well! I got charged two more months at 44 and change per month. So I call and let them know that I had cancelled. Told them I went into a level two, came out to a brunette who helped me with the paperwork. The manager lets me know that she sees the day I'm talking about and confirms that a brunette would have helped me on that day. Great. They'll figure it out, right? Wrong. They left me a voicemail saying that the owners aren't going to refund me the money because they couldn't find an input error on the google drive! I suggested that they check their security cameras because i sure as sh*t stood at the counter that day and signed a paper to relieve myself of the contract. Also I had gone in once more because I thought I still had days available because they closed a month. And the manager helped me and suggested over email that I had not cancelled at all. Which also irritates me because I know full well I had signed to cancel. It's not fair that I did my part to end the contract. It's not my responsibility to sit there and make sure this employee processes my paperwork. My only responsibility was to cancel the membership, which I did. So I'm out 89 dollars that could have gone to really, anything else. I wasn't using the membership. Because I cancelled it. Steer clear of Malibu Tan. There are so many small salons in Bozeman you could be using instead that conduct business ethically and make their customers a priority.

I came into this salon excited for a fresh balayage and to go lighter again after growing out my natural deep blonde/light brunette color over the past few years. I asked for a natural-looking balayage with lighter face-framing pieces, lighter ends, and help reducing brassiness while keeping the overall look soft, natural and blended. What I left with was very different from what I asked for. And unfortunately, I was honestly embarrassed by my hair and think it looked much worse than the brassier, natural, and uncolored hair I originally came in with. I was given what felt like a very minimal partial balayage instead of the full service I paid for, along with choppy bangs I did not expect. And the appointment took forever wasting my time and money due to "social media content creation" and stepping up her phone for videos. Unfortunately now, the color is uneven--one side of my head is extremely noticeably lighter and more bleached than the other--and I have a very harsh, unblended root line instead of the soft grow-out I requested. It does not feel cohesive or natural at all, and nothing like my reference photos. The appointment also ran over five hours just for the first, unfinished, appointment. During that time, there were moments where I felt the attention to my hair wasn't consistent or really there at all. The attention rather was on the social media content. Overall, I left feeling like the result didn't match the consultation or what I paid for ($195 + tip). I also want to mention that I was told I would HAVE to come back for a "touch-up" due to time constraints, and that it would be complimentary - which number one I didn't need to have come back if she would've done the correct thing that I asked for which was the balayage and highlights and facial framing and wouldn't have been on the phone so much... it was very disappointing. When I returned, I was told I would need to pay for a full balayage again, even though I had already spent close to $250 including tip. I only thought I was concerned because I didn't want them to damage and completely dry out my hair. The entire experience was frustrating, especially because I came in hoping to simply fix what wasn't completed or done properly and how I asked the first time. In my second visit, the concerns I had about my hair were not really addressed in a way that made me feel heard in the result, and I think she had even laughed after I had mentioned that I had done my own research. Overall, I personally would NOT return or recommend this salon based on my experience. I was really hoping for a collaborative and professional result, but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.
