On the Friday we left in the evening June 15th 2015, my son got so sick to the point they didn't want to let him board the plane back home (to The Netherlands) after contacting the Hotels Mr. Tunatun in Transportation, they let us leave Turkey.
The entire trip back with my son was hell as he was so sick. By the time we arrived, my son ended up in emergency in the hospital in The Netherlands.
My 13 year old Son went into convulsions, vomiting delirious. To cut a long story short he ended up in the hospital vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding from his bowels, fever of over 40 which took almost two days to reduce. Samples of his blood, Diarrhea, and vomit were checked on Tuesday the reports came back to us, that while in Turkey possibly during the middle of the week or two days before our departure, he ate something with Salmonella bacteria. The Doctor said my son had an extremely bad case, to the point if we did not get him to the Doctor when we did my child would have died.
Instantly our amazing trip had a dark halo over it
Trying to contact this hotel to get anything resolved was ridiculous! I sent them e-mails; they contacted back once, but no other replies! We thought about suing them, as Salmonella, is not just a simple food poisoning! Not to mention we have all records, letters from the hospital, as far as the Bile that came from his stomach was only from the Gold City Hotel, as there was nothing further.
I remembered a few getting sick and going to the Hospital, of course when I asked the Manager (Ozkan, BEKIR) about it, the Salmonella, he was vague about it! I did call a few times and got the correspondence by e-mail from him once, he tried to cover it up and make it light, saying they had simple food poisoning. My sons doctor said, (upon me later telling him what the Hotel Management said, was that they/he could/would never know, what their guests really had from a quick visit to the hospital, etc, because Salmonella shows up later and only after extensive tests as my son had had!
In short a nightmare for such a stay at a beautiful Hotel! The experience shattered.
Be careful what you or your children or loved ones eat!
I would have been fine with constant communication, showing they cared, after such a horrible ordeal, and the fact that if my child had died, it would have been a different scene.
Be careful of this hotel in regards to the food! Salmonella Kills!
