It seems rather strange that a city like Chester doesn't have a decent cinema closer than this,…read moreanother cloned multiplex in an out-of-town retail park in the middle of nowhere, but there it is. Actually I say the middle of nowhere, that's just what it felt like during the 20 minute drive in the dark - it's actually on the edge of Ellesmere Port, but that's hardly a hub of civilisation in itself. It's the typical retail park scenario, you know the kind of thing - windy roads, lots of roundabouts, a steady breeze sweeping the tumbleweeds past as you're dazzled by the neon glow from Burger King, Nandos, Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny's, Bella Italia, and the other usual suspects. The cinema experience itself was just like any other Vue, I just hate this universal trend towards corporate blandness that insists on building these huge conglomerate retail parks in the middle of nowhere.

It's annoying to get to without a car as the buses can be quite bad and sometimes don't show up at all. If you can get there then it is a far better venue than any cinema nearer to the city. With a large number of screens there are a lot of films on offer at any one time. In fact last time we visited, my wife ended up watching a different film to me, and this worked out great with only a 20 minute wait for one of us. The food is obviously a massive rip off, but that is true of every cinema these days. Luckily the rest of the retail park offers a range of restaurants to suit al tastes so it is worth eating before or after the film rather than spending a similar amount on a drink and some ice cream.

I had not a clue that we had just round the corner the largest indoor and ONLY 3 level karting track in the UK. I was blown away as I spent the whole day mindlessly thrashing the kart around the track. Let me tell you, if you ever go, be prepared because it will exhaust the hell out of you, but GOD DAMNNNNN I haven't had so much fun in a long time. There's this one part of the track which had a dip. Now, if you accelerated fast enough after cornering well you could actually lift off and be airborne. That's cool enough but wait there's more...... post lift off and upon landing the rapidly rotating wheels give you a kick up the backside by shooting you down the straight at a rate of knots. Now no matter how many times I did it I couldn't get enough of that...eeeeeeeeeeek If you go with some friends I guarantee this is an absolute delight as a day activity. People get so competitive it's hilarious, myself included. As soon as you've done your allocated number of laps you leap out of your kart and race to the monitors to check your times. The prices are fairly reasonable and I think you can get discounts if you book a group, but if I remember correctly they are in the region of £30+ for an hour. You do find yourself pretending you are Schumacher no matter how hard you try not to. For first timers you have to do timed laps to build up confidence and technique, so you just arrive and drive, which is what we did. However as you get better you can compete in a grand prix style races. Thus in conclusion I recommend you just.....GO GO GO GOOOOOOOOOOO as Murray Walker would say...

Importantly the Museum falsely advertises what a great place to visit, and continues to utilise a lot of extreme artistic licence in photos and text to promote the Museum. The 21st Century displays are mostly out of order. There were no volunteers in period costumes as promoted. On exhibit (the Stables) is empty and pointless. Other exhibits like the steam engines weren't working, with signs saying out of order. The Archive Centre was completely closed to the public. There are only few boats to be seen, and these are very rusty, dilapidated old barges that are water logged, mostly filled with debris and green slime.'' This place did feel like a ship graveyard and would make a good movie set for a ghost ship themed scene.. There were so many boats rotting on the sides, no actors in period costumes,,,half the buildings were closed off to public..and those that were open were just like walking in yours nans living room...which I can do that for free..The blacksmith was not even there,,but had left a catalogue with some of his works you could buy..which were great looking I have to say..so if you a fancy a lord of the rings themed gate, you know where to go.. The only redeeming feature that this place had was a 1000+ year old boat found from an archaeological dig (although the other boats looked like this) and the cafe..which sold cheap and cheerful homemade basics such as pies and jacket potatoes.. We paid £6.50 to get in...which didn't seem bad at the time...but I would save that money and go for a pint instead with Titanic playing in the background

It's home to a remarkable collection of boats from inland waterways which include narrowboats, barges, ice breakers and much more. A memorable canal trip takes you through an industrial waterscape, which is rich in stories and wildlife. The tour allows you to look into the lives of boat people who travelled the canals and the families who lived and worked on the docks. There's plenty of space to let off steam, quiet corners for picnics and trails to follow which makes it a warm welcome for families. Visitor prices are reasonable, costing just £6 for an adult and £4 for a child (aged 5 to 16). Concessions are £5 and under 5's are free. As a whole, I would recommend this trip if you are interested in soaking up some local flavour as there is lots to see and do. With flotillas of historic boats and fascinating indoor displays, the National Waterways Museum is a great day whatever the weather.

The few actors that we saw were boring, with standard zombie style trick or treat make-up, no rubber or any real effort gone into it. Whilst you're waiting to go into the Slaughterhouse you get to listen to upbeat dance music coming from the huge, brightly lit gazebo in the middle of the park, which isn't used for anything by the way. All I expected was a bit of imagination, maybe some dancing zombies or at least a bit of spooky music and low lights. Spooky World was a massive disappointment with the scariest thing being the slow, poor service to get a drink. When you walk into Slaughterhouse it's pitch black, so you might be expecting something to jump out at you. You'd be wrong. Anyone that you see is well lit and just pants. Apart from a guy running round with a chainsaw this place has no redeeming qualities. Don't waste your money. Buy a creepy mask and go and tell stories in a graveyard. Would be much scarier than this place. p.s if you have a buggy or a wheelchair forget about it. It's so muddy you'll be dragging it around. Visited October 26th 2013

Inspired by The Beatles film and song, Yellow Submarine is probably Liverpool's most psychedelic statue. Designed by Graham Burgess, it was painstakingly built by a team of 80 apprentices at Cammell Laird in the mid eighties. Measuring 15 feet high and 51 feet long, it weighs 18 ton and consists of plate metal spray-painted a striking yellow. Incase anyone misses the reference to the band, there's a plaque inscribed with the chorus of 'Yellow Submarine'. Years ago, visitors could see the sculpture as they drove or walked past Albert Dock. Gradual wear and tear however, means Yellow Submarine has been relocated to outside Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
