This place sells a bunch of out of date items and the flowers are over priced. Honestly don't waste your time!

Aka "Reston Farm Market." Just got 1/4 cord of wood. Easy peasy. New owners. Easy to work with. Nice!

Last time I went I learned about bird friendly coffee, bought some lomo saltado that made me reminisce about a previous trip to Peru, got some sausage and fresh fruit & veggies. The green onions were so much bigger than the ones you see in the grocery store!

I love shopping at the Herndon Farmers market where I can pick from a good selection of fresh, locally grown, wonderfully tasting produce. I love meeting the growers/farmers, talking about their farms, talking about their and my shared love for gardening. You can taste what a tomato is supposed to taste like with absolutely no yukky plastic taste like you'll find in a grocery store. A locally farm grown carrot or sweet peas is almost like eating candy because the are so sweet. And the fruit! Oh what the flavor of a watermelon tastes like when it's not a washed out flavor of a mass produced product. The farmers are always willing to answer any and all questions I may have and for the high quality of their produce I find their pricing very fair. They are in the same place all of us are with this economy and they understand we are all looking for a good price and they provide those.

Every time I'm back in VA on a Saturday I make sure to stop by the Reston Farmer's Market. They've…read moregot some of the best produce in the area. The apples and pears are especially fantastic so I recommend trying and buying some since there are samples of most. If you go right around when it opens it's not too crazy but by 9am it's pretty crowded and I don't recommend parking in (or near) the lot itself. I'm addicted to carbs, so the real reason for my trip is always the bakeries that are tucked into the back of the market next to the lake itself. Nordic Knots has a "Pretzel Croissant" that's amazing. It's basically a really flakey, crisp croissant washed with lye and topped with pretzel salt to give it that real "pretzel" flavor. The pretzels themselves are fine, but the croissant is the pro move. They go quick with some aunties lining up 15 minutes before they open (which is always a bit late). My Cravingz is my true destination and it's basically the last stall in the marked (coming from the parking lot). The Turkish bakery has a cafe in Manassas but there are a few things you can only get here. The guy is always super friendly and is happy to explain the good to anyone unsure. My go-to breakfast is a cheese açma and coffee with a simit and nutella pogaça to go. The açma is one of the best pastries I've ever had. Flakey and buttery like a croissant but with a bit more chew and stuffed to the gills with high-quality feta. They'll warm it up for you on the spot, which I highly recommend if you're eating it there. If you're looking for a heavier breakfast of lunch the borek is great but a bit much for me that early.

I flew to DC for an end of life celebration, looking for something to take to share because grandma said you don't show up with just your hat in your hand. I was blown away at the number of produce vendors. We have a large market at the Pearl in San Antonio and lucky to see two or three produce vendors with limited selection. Parking is the most challenging aspect here. I didn't even try the surface lot as it looked packed. I was able to find street parking a few blocks away. This market must have had at least a dozen produce vendors. And the selection was incredible. The vegetables and tomatoes looked incredible. But I was flying back and could not enjoy them. I did buy some cherries and strawberries to share with the local family. They were so fresh and everyone enjoyed them.

There are a variety of produce, meats, and made to order fresh food. Per VA food safety law, no dogs allowed. It has become part of our Saturday morning routine coming to this cozy market! It's open from 8am to 1pm. Greenheart Juices - With a large variety of juices to choose from, the refreshing cold-pressed Summer Crush watermelon juice is my favorite! Definitely ask for a sample and the staff is always so nice! Greenheart is also at the Mosaic District, Bethesda, and other DMV markets. Savagely Good Pies - The creamy Spinach and Cheese quiche and the Asparagus and Melted Leek quiche are hearty and delicious! Don't forget about dessert - the Apple Pie is divine! The pies are often sold out - so highly recommend pre-ordering. Los Sabrositos - The wood-fired Breakfast pizza with red peppers, onions, scrambled egg, bacon, and Mexican cheese is scrumptious and filling! While the crepes are tasty, they don't keep as well and the pizza is my pick! The fresh Mango, Pineapple, and Strawberry and Banana smoothies are refreshing and delicious! Mama's Donut Bites - The soft bite-size cinnamon sugar donut holes are sooo goooood and easy to devour! The staff was really nice and gave us a dozen for the price of 6! The market isn't as bustling as the Mosaic District or Bethesda markets with hardly any lines and nice selection of venders. Excited to keep coming back!
