Our guide for the day (in early October) was Eric. He was nice and friendly, and took my husband…read moreand I to see Mont St. Michel in the morning & D-Day Beaches in the afternoon. In the morning, we were the only 2 guests he drove to Mont St. Michel. What a treat since we didn't have to wait for anyone and it was just us in the mini van. I really enjoyed the visit to Mont St. Michel. While there was fog by the time we arrived, the clouds cleared up and we were able to see some great views, and the castle from a distance - lots of great photos. :) Eric led us up to the abbey entrance, and gave us about 90 minutes to explore the entire castle, ramparts, and abbey. It was just enough time, although we would have liked more time there! However, since we were trying to pack in so many sites into 1 day, we had to leave Mont St. Michel around 11:30 am or so... The drive back to Bayeux took 1.5 hours or so, and then Eric dropped us off for lunch. It's basically your free time to enjoy lunch, and then we met up with the afternoon folks (there was another family that joined us) to do the D-Day beaches excursion. Oh, I forgot to mention that Eric picked us up at our hotel early in the morning at 7am. It's best for you to stay overnight in Bayeux, since there is no train that gets in from Paris to Bayeux by 7am in the morning. So...in the afternoon, Eric led us through the D-Day beaches, he explained the history at each stop we visited. Our afternoon was spent visiting Arromanches, American Cemetary, Omaha Beach, Point du Hoc. He hit the major sites, since we were all American tourists in the car, haha so he brought us to the landmarks that were significant to us. :) Our 1-day excursion cost 98 euro per person. What I like most about this company is that it offers a 1-day excursion to hit up both locations in Normandy that were important to me: Mont St. Michel + D-Day Beaches. I was more of a fan of Mont St. Michel while my husband wanted to see the D-Day Beaches, so this excursion was able to fulfill both of our requests! :)
