I booked an appointment at the beginning of the week for a curly cut. When booking, there was only…read moreone option for the stylist followed by a quick survey that asked for pictures of my current hair and desired cut. I was sure to fill this out immediately. When I arrived to the salon (again, DAYS after booking the appt), I was asked to wait to meet my stylist. I was brought back to her chair where she asked me to describe what I'd like. She proceeded to say that she did not feel comfortable cutting my hair type. While I am grateful that she did not jump in while unsure, I did find it pretty upsetting that the stylist and the salon chose to handle this embarrassing situation in front of other clients rather than calling me beforehand or even speaking with me at the front of the salon. Likewise, I have a difficult time understanding the purpose of submitting pictures in advance (which the stylist stated she saw), but then waiting until after I have driven to the salon to discuss. J. Bauman was actually in the salon while this was happening and offered no reassurance or alternative. He sat on his phone in the front of the salon while the stylist told me how "awkward" the situation was. The best that they could provide was asking me to come in a different day (mind you this haircut was for my graduation the next day.) If you have textured, curly hair, I'd be extremely wary of booking with the curly cut stylist and this salon in general. I found that EDUCE down the road was a similar price point with a much more understanding and qualified staff.

Jessica is so cool and easy to work with and talk to; we converse (and laugh) many times when my appointment is with Lashon. Jessica listened to my objectives and described a shorter haircut that would be perfect for me for the Florida summer. She used a razor to remove the weight of my hair but kept a similar style. She walked me through the process and explained everything in detail to make sure it was what I was looking for. I found out Jessica just taught her first class (on shags) and I can see why Phillip has such high confidence in her abilities. (Shiny stuff tied into your hair, lasts a few days or a few months depending on your hair). They have 'Nole, Gator, UCF, Magic and Bucs colors, plus some fun colors like Purple. The entrance is the salon is a bit weird as it's in the back and not the store front you see as you drive in. I had Claudia as my stylist and she was super sweet and listened to what I wanted. She offered great tips of upkeep and how to easily maintain since I pretty much do nothing for my hair. In the end my haircut looked hair and looked healthy and silky. For shampoo, cut and blow dry, I paid $50. Which is a little on the high side for me but will probably come back for convenience. Don't forget to check in for $5 off!
