We were on a bit of a multi-state road trip and needed a place to stay while we were in Hannibal, MO. As Tom Sawyer days were in full effect hotels there were a bit pricier than they were worth (IMO) so we found a great little Airbnb in nearby Quincey, IL, a quick 15 minute ride across the river.* We quickly noticed things close down early even on the weekend here as all restaurants were scheduled to close at 9pm. Our Airbnb host had kindly left a local "Quincy" magazine on the table that showcased new businesses trying to offer a "nightlife" to the town and one intriguing place mentioned was the Fuzzy Bubbler. It wasn't even on Yelp yet and I'd never discovered it if not for that magazine so I'm glad she left it! Now I've added it for others in the area to find because it's a cool space that deserves your business. My wife wanted to try this concoction that must be a local thing which this place is named after (apparently a "fuzzy bubbler" is a citrus vodka that sits in a keg until it naturally carbonates). However, we didn't see it on the menu here! Perhaps we could have asked for it? If not, she still enjoyed her Old Fashioned which they whipped up fresh for her. I opted to try a few of their craft brews, namely a dark chocolate stout and a moderately mild Pale Ale, both were delicious. There are a lot of beers to choose from and I'd like to have had the time and liver to try them all. They also serve fresh cheeses, all of which looked delicious but we were attempting to work up an appetite for dinner so had to pass.
The space is nice, seating is comfortable, music selection is good, location offers plenty of parking, and the service was super friendly. I definitely recommend it for locals and tourists alike. read more
