I got a truffle brie which is just as decadent as it sounds - although actually the truffle flavour was subtle rather than overpowering as one might fear (I personally would not fear that as I srsly love truffles). To round out my selection I got some stilton and some premier cru gruyere. When I say selection I obviously ate all the brie myself almost immediately and had the rest late. The colston bassett stilton was outstanding - a creamy stilton that is great for those who can find stilton a bit overpowering. We liked the gruyere although aren't major hard cheese fans so probably didn't fully appreciate it - I would recommend it though if you are. Finally I got some seasonal scotch eggs - featuring some kind of pigs in blankets element and they were outstanding. Slightly runny in the middle, fantastic flavour, I can't remember a better example. Despite the fact they were really busy pre-Christmas and its a tiny space, they had loads of staff so managed to give everyone a lot of time and it's as much an experience as a shopping trip.

Very impressed with this little Deli and hat tip to JQ for suggesting it!…read more As I was wondering through Heaton Moor I liked the place more and more and it was epitomised by my afternoon spent at Pokusevski's! While there I had a couple of coffees, nice tasting and good value and also a delicious chicken club with a side of chips. The club was made and chips tasty to boot - though I think that was the most unhealthy thing on the menu as lots of wholesome and healthy dishes were coming out of the kitchen! Pokusevski's provided the perfect spot to spend a few hours working away on our laptops (free wifi) and enjoying some great food & drink! Another lovely spot in Heaton Moor and a nice escape from the city!

I stopped in for lunch with a few friends and was really impressed by the Mediterranean heavy menu which included several interesting salads, paninis, sandwiches, daily changing quiches and several types of platters. I went for the halloumi salad with olives and roasted peppers which was delicious and very generous with the amount of cheese. In fact everyone's lunches looked very impressive, particularly my friend's platter which I was massively jealous of when it arrived, being full of several of my favourite things including prosciutto, olives, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella and what looked to be an entire ciabatta loaf - I definitely know what I'm ordering next time! Unbeknown to me prior to my visit is that in addition to the main cafe area there is a good sized courtyard at the rear which is perfect for a warm summer's day as it's a real sun trap. We sat out here and it almost felt like we could have been on holiday - almost! As well as the café they also do a large takeaway menu and have a deli counter of meats, cheeses, olives etc as well as freshly baked bread (delicious bagels) and posh cupboard items.

My dad had a pastrami, brie & dill pickle ciabatta, my mum and myself shared (hers) parma ham, avacado, tomato & parmasan shaving ciabatta and (mine) prawn, salad & smoked salmon ciabatta - all very lovely. Also on offer are salads, coffees, beers, pastry goods ie baklava etc - & free wifi if thats your bag. English speaking waitresses and a lady owner - who although her english was limited was very concerned to know if we enjoyed our sandwiches - so another plus point for service. Another note on service - it was busy which is always a good a sign but we didn't have to wait long for our food.

The sandwiches are delicious, my favourites are brie with grapes and mustard mayo, and parma ham and avocado. You can choose a baguette, ciabatta or croissant on which to have your delicious sandwich. You night also try the salads/ deli items such as vine leaves, hummus, tapenade, cous cous and pasta salads too many to name or the equally numerous deserts like baklava, pastries and cake. Edward, the owner is charming and helpful plus they also run wine tastings and provide buffets. The only down point is the coffee which is average- amazing coffee would be the icing on the cake for this brilliant place.
