Even when our cockapoo had trouble standing, the groomers worked around his limitations and gave him a perfect cut every time. ***Amy, the owner, is knowledgeable. She was quick to point out a problem Ralph had that I hadn't noticed. I immediately took him to the vet, who cleared it up with a dose of antibiotics. *** Unlike groomers who keep dogs all day, pick-up is generally three hours after drop-off. *** Prices are so reasonable that I started paying more than charged, not counting the tip. This does not pertain to Amy, the owner, she was great with my dog. The other groomer - I believe her name is Cheryl, has a very apparent dislike for the doodle mixes. I was scolded for "teaching my dog bad habits" because my dog kept trying to bite the brush while the groomer was brushing my dog out. Then she went on and on about doodles, and how she doesn't know why people spend all that money on a doodle , and something about how she and Amy never had problems with the dogs they bred. I could handle that, as I really don't care what her opinion is on doodles. However, my dog was freaking out when they brought him to me. He had been groomed there before this, and was a happy dog afterward. This time he was CRAZY while I was paying. When he got into my car he didn't even make a peep. He seemed so relieved not to be in that place. Now, when I say "let's go for a ride in the car" my dog runs away from me, instead of jumping for joy. I really liked how Amy groomed Rudy, but as long as Cheryl is there, I won't be going back. read more

We took our dog (Yorkie) there for his 1st professional grooming. The cut was ok, his face was lopsided but I get that since animals move around. The problem was the 1st impression. As soon as we opened the door the stench of poop and urine hit me in the face. It was awful and definitely did not seem clean at all. I should have trusted my instinct and turned around and walked out. The interior was dark and not clean looking. A coat of paint can do wonders. I could see into the back room where they groom and it was a mess, dogs in crates on a shelf with a fan on them. The grooming window was frosted over so you could not see in. And the kicker is 2 weeks later our dog has kennel cough. Our bad for not protecting him, but the only shot records they are concerned with is rabies. The staff also was not very friendly, or talkative for that matter. We will not go back there. However we did stop at another nearby groomer and their business did not smell at all, was light and cheery and the staff was very friendly. We will go to that one to check out how they cut. read more

I had to switch groomers because my old one was always booked 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Our puppy's hair had gotten really matted in the interim and needed to be shaved down. I was nervous about how she would look afterwards, but the owner at Furs....explained why it happened and that it was the best solution. Our dog looked great when it was over, skinny, but neatly groomed. We will be back! read more

Not impressed. Took my toy poodle for the second time. Last time they close shaved near her paws and she had two cuts. I mentioned it to them when I took her yesterday and they recommended not shaving near paws. I happily agreed. This time they overly close shaved near her tail area. Poor delicate Pepper can't walk with the cut there and she's just sitting refusing to even go bathroom. Not impressed. They seem like overly busy and hardly any time getting spent on our babies. Not to mention no smile when you walk in. Learnt my lesson. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for 3 yrs and they used to do great. But the last two times we took them, their ears weren't plucked, their toes weren't trimmed in between, and their anal glands weren't expressed. I just went to Clips and dips and she groomed them and said my tea cup poodles gland was impacted because it had not been done in months! It was so bad she said she almost ran him to the vet, but she was able to completely express it finally. I will never recommend or go to this place ever again. DON'T Take Your Cat Here!!!! Took my long haired cat here for a bath and cut. They barely speak to me when I brought him in. They tell me it will be 4 hours. So, I come back several hours later and they have my cat, in his carrier, sitting in the corner behind a bookcase on the floor...Wow! Of course, no conversation about the experience and I take my cat and go. I get to the car and notice through the carrier that he still has quite a bit of dandruff... of which I was assured would go away if I went the "bath route".. so I went back in to ask about it. When someone was finally able to pull themselves away from the back, she comes up to explain to me that a cat experiences stress which stirs up the dandruff and that I need to rub baby wipes on him afterwards... um ok?!??! Get my cat home and he immediately goes and hides under the couch. Can't figure out why he is afraid of me and seems very scared and stressed. Several hours later I finally convince him to come out and come lay on the bed. I proceed to pet him and check him out. That's when I noticed his paws!!!! EVERY SINGLE NAIL HAD BEEN CUT!!! I had specifically asked if this was something they did and was told they ONLY do a bath and shave! So I was terribly confused as to why his nails were cut.. but even worse, was the fact that they were almost completely cut off! Several of his paws were bloody from the bleeding of the nails being cut too close! I immediately called first thing in the morning. I spoke to the Manager, who is also the person who took care of him. She explained to me that after his bath he wanted nothing to do with the blow dryer so they put him in a cage. When they tried to pull him out, he grabbed ahold of the cage with his claws. And because they were pulling on him, she said that his claws came out because of that.. but then she proceeded to state that the only way she was finally able to get him out was to grab ahold of his feet, turn him on his back and then pull him out... two different stories and NEITHER match up! What did happen, however, is she grabbed a pair of nail clippers and she clipped his nails so that he could grab onto the cage anymore, thereby throwing any type of caution to the wind as she chopped each and every nail down to nothing.. causing the several of them to bleed.. and even cutting part of his paw pad on one of them. When I explained my frustration to this treatment and the fact that NO ONE came out to speak to me about this, she became EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE!!! She blamed my cat for not cooperating... SERIOUSLY?!?!?! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!! I have always been told that if you don't like what you do for a living, you should look for other employment... this lady needs to close up shop, because when your job requires you to take care of people's pets, which most consider a part of their family, and you act like it is NO BIG DEAL, then you are in the WRONG BUSINESS!!! Shame on you FURS GONNA FLY!!! You should be ashamed of yourself and your ROTTEN treatment to animals!!! And if you don't want to groom a cat, don't say you will do it!!!!!!! read more

This is hands down one of the best places you can get your dog groomed. They are incredibly experienced and will get you in and out quickly. Amy, the owner, shows dogs and knows how to give you the cut appropriate for your breed. If you're looking for a fancy showroom with latte's, this is not it. They have a simple shop but the groomers have loads of experience. I'll take the latter over a fancy shop any day. I don't trust my dogs to just anyone, but I have no second thoughts about leaving them with Amy. read more

My service dog, Shorty and I travel all over the country and world and I can tell you honestly that Amy is THE BEST groomer that my lil babe has ever visited. I can't tell you that my experience phoning and getting an appointment is easy but it's not difficult either - just not super prompt. Shorty has had groomers in so many places but has never looked so dang good or had difficulties or challenges after. In addition -each demographic is different so sometimes places take, literally, a dogs age to get back to you so there slow response is nothing compared to most MAJ cities. The only thing I would say about her last experience is that I don't believe they cleaned her teeth. She always leaves smelling like a dream and they may have missed that- STILL- all the rest - all Shorty won't allow me to do and the things that keep her tidy, she's happy, I'm happy and I have referred many a dog to this place. Not the best bed side manner experience...especially when you walk in, but they are around our little ones all day, so I can't expect them to be super warm and fuzzy when a human comes in! All we know as that when we see Amy, Shorty freaks out for a bit but knows she is in good hands. Amy is warm and sweet and you never see her again. She just does her art, work and I know Shorty is treated kindly and happily. The rest of the staff - non-plus-I'm just happy to see Shorty again and the staff could give a sh-t other than pay your bill. Ok, I'm super excited for the work you did and you just want to get me out of there, get it. got it. good. If you are cool with that - very NY - where we are from - you should be happy because I'm pretty sure after moving here and not having any reference for anything, getting burned by so many business' - this will not be one of them. I have been bringing my dogs to Amy (the owner) for their grooming needs for years and trust her completely with my animals. Other grooming salons make your dogs stay all day, but, Amy is finished in 3 hours or less with my 4 dogs every time. She is great with handling the animals and they always come home looking fabulous (and I am very picky). She is very well-priced for the area and she always gives discounts for sending in new customers or bringing multiple animals at once. As a first time customer, I was very displeased with my experience. The staff is not friendly and the woman who answers the phone was extremely short and rude. The actual haircut was decent. However, when I went to go pick up my dog the man who went in the back to get her was very mean. He would yell at her to "come on!" And comment "oh my god" multiple times. My dog is always well behaved so these comments were unnecessary. If this is the way my dog was treated while I was there, then I can only imagine how she was treated while I wasn't. He was also very short with me himself. I will not refer anyone here or go again myself. Horrible experience. read more
