We were spending the night locally on a trip up the west coast, and our Airbnb host suggested Inkwell as a good place to purchase gifts. They were absolutely right. There were plenty of staff around; I received numerous offers of help, and the cashier who helped us was really nice and welcomed us to their town. The options for gifts were plentiful, with everything from purses to candles to preserves to clothing to dishes and fun kitchen gadgets. (The shop is attached to a furniture store that looked beautiful, but we didn't spend time there.) They also sold local postcards, greeting cards, and other Oregon-themed gifts. We purchased a beautiful blown-glass Christmas ornament for ourselves and numerous small gifts for my parents. The prices were what I would have expected -- not cheap, but the items were nice and well-made, and the prices felt fair for what we purchased. I highly recommend this shop.

As many of you know, furniture is a long-term investment, and the shopping experience should come with attentive, knowledgeable staff who help guide you through that process. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt more observed than welcomed. One employee made eye contact and immediately turned away, and as we continued browsing--essentially left to "prospect" on our own--there was little effort to engage or assist us. On our way out, another staff member offered a brief hello but never followed up to ask if we needed help. When you're making a significant purchase like furniture, customer service matters just as much as the product. Sadly, this visit left us feeling overlooked rather than valued. We later found our couch at another location and will receive it in 30 to 60 days due to the customization we requested. We are happy to have found a place that truly understood what we were looking for our home.

But in 2023, coming out of COVID and after years of living in athleisure or in items that felt just "meh, good enough," I realized I had completely lost my sense of personal style. I didn't know where to start. Regina and Julie changed that. They took the time to get to know me and work with me, and that helped me develop a style that truly feels like me and also fits my lifestyle. Their guidance has been thoughtful, patient, and incredibly helpful. Through this process, I've also learned that buying things online or from big-box stores and even second hand stores was actually more expensive in the long run. Why? Because I kept ending up with clothes that didn't fit me right, didn't work for my day-to-day life, were poor quality and didn't last, and ultimately weren't aligned with the aesthetic I truly wanted but didn't yet know how to create. Now I have a smaller closet with high-quality pieces from vendors they carefully select for their commitment to ethical and sustainable fashion, handmade goods, local artists, and women-owned businesses. My closet feels fuller, more intentional, and more "me" than it ever has. And I get stopped and complimented almost every time I wear one of their pieces. That kind of attention isn't something I've ever sought out, but it's amazing how a quick conversation about a great outfit or accessory can brighten even the darkest, rainiest day. Regina and Julie, I can't thank you enough for helping me find my fashion groove again. The Golden Crane is a true treasure in our town, and I am so grateful for both of you.

horrible customer service. I have purchased items over the years that. have been broken (as in a…read morefinal sale necklace. Where the break only became obvious when I tried to wear it) or just very badly constructed. I've been cautious in my purchases as I don't want to get caught out. But last summer I came across a dress that met my needs perfectly. I ensured the fit was correct before my purchase. Then I wore it, and I was at a gathering and moving around. The buttons down the front loosened up while I was up, and when I sat down the front opened wide, embarrassing me and my companions. When I reported it to the store, knowing I could not return the faulty item, the response was, in full "We've never had any problems with them before". Wrong response. The respectful, responsible, and caring response would have been "I'm so sorry" or something expressing empathy. So the store might have cute and "unique" clothing, but if you want something worth having you're better off looking elsewhere
