The home is victorian and gorgeous and located across the street from the Abandoned Arlington School building. This house was built in 1906 by architect William E. Benns for H. W. Sweet at a cost of $10,000. The house uniquely blended the Queen Anne and Neo-Classical architectural styles, featuring two identical pedimented entrance porticos supported by fluted Composite-order columns, full-length wrap around porches on the first and second stories, and an octagonal corner tower. H. W. Sweet (1866-1919) a native of South Carolina, was Bessemer's first undertaker and a furniture merchant. Henry W. Sweet (1902-1990) was his and Mattie Breen Sweet's (1865-1946) only child. Henry married Lucile Lytle (1902-1986) in 1925 Henry Wilson Sweet (1902-1990) contributed greatly to the economic, political and civic life of Alabama, Jefferson County, and Bessemer. The ballroom was packed to capacity this past year, with at least two thousand people, and Curt was the finale act, his illusions were far and away the best thing of the night--he outshined all the other magicians who led up to him. The rooms are nice and spacious. The kitchen and dinning room are enormous and gorgeous. There are two living room areas and a huge reception room with attached kitchen and bar area. There is also space in the backyard that features a large covered patio, courtyard with koi pond and gazebo. Overall this was the perfect place for all of my family to stay to attend the wedding and reception of my cousin and her husband. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely recommend Bear Creek Manor for group events.

Skip has travelled across the U.S. to capture our images. We adore him and he adores his clients. Engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, baby, child, family portraits- he's done it all for us and we wouldn't have anyone else do it. Skip is a fast worker. He could shoot for days and does occasionally for us but due to our time constraints we usually don't get an opportunity for a family shoot longer than an hour, but Skip works his magic and we get hundreds of beautiful images. He makes my toddler grin from ear to ear with a legitimate smile, not one of those "cheeeese" smiles. And that's all I want, a nice smile, but the fact that she truly enjoys getting her picture taken by Skip makes it even better. His dedication to the perfect shot is what makes him the best.
